Mar. 4th, 2009 03:36 pm'ey up, it's been a busy few days. I actually met the Rector (damnnearkilledher etc) on Monday, and he was nice enough, once we established that DocSoc wasn't a medical society. Much more interesting was the Torchlit Procession, another entirely unnecessary tradition but beautiful enough to make it worthwhile. Basically, about a thousand students - many in th bright red gowns that look a wee bit like Gallifreyan robes - process through the town with torches, before moving across the coastal path and along the pier. It was absolutely beautiful to watch; little dancing toches, as bright as the stars that were visible for once, bobbing along an invisible dark pier out to sea and back again. It probably symbolises something. Anyway, previous rectors have included J.M. Barrie and John Cleese, so it's a fairly big deal, and I'm glad I took part.
Things I've not been glad to take part in recently have been classes. The last two days have been fairly knackering; the debate yesterday was fun, but I cocked up my exam this morning and now I'm just tired. I've got work tomorrow, too, fairly early in the morning. Bleurgh.
I was meant to go swimming today, but I forgot to shave my legs this morning, and now it's past the time that the schoolkids are out. Another day, another skive of exercise. My Lent resolution is going badly, shall we say. Ah well.
