Apr. 14th, 2009 04:24 pmWell, I'm back in St Andrews with surprisingly few misadventures, pigeon-shaped or otherwise. I am somewhat glad to be back, having now all got all unpacked and bought a pint of milk from the shop over the road. I'm exhausted, having not slept for apparently a million years; I've also had on and off heartburn for about ten days, which last night led to me lying on the sofa and wondering if I was, in fact, possibly just having a low-grade heart attack.
Anyway, the heartburn has lifted, which is great. Mum went for her hospital appointment this morning and discovered that it was all a false alarm and all is well, which is even better. I suspect the listing of the heartburn and this news is connected. Eh. Who knows?
I watched all the new Red Dwarf last night. It's a very strange feeling to have to put Red Dwarf under spoilers, given it's bloody old and very well-known.
I liked the second episode, best; I have to admit, I did howl at laughter at the death of the science officer, and the video reference. I've never seen Blade Runner, so most of the jokes were lost of me. Mostly I was being too confused at Rimmer's Incredible Receding Hairline and so on and so forth. It was... not as bad as I expected, but it wasn't that good either.
Also had an alarming and disturbing moment when the man in the scifi shop was talking to the president of the fan club. I'm nicknamed El Presidente and I used to drive a car called Starbug. That was referenced. Coincidence, I know, but spooked me a bit. Possibly spooked my parents more as I howled "BUT THAT'S MY NICKNAME".
So, yes, back in St Andrews. It's been an odd few days but it's nice to be back in a room without the consant pervading fear that Megan and her Smell will descend.
