Okay, so, basically I am in love with Deep Space Nine. I'm not sure how this happened. I mean, my love for Star Trek is a slow burning one that is always going on the background, but Deep Space Nine was the boring cousin that didn't do very much. Okay, when it was first on I was about nine and liked Voyager a bit better, and liked the colours in the Original Series, and as I got older I fell in love with The Next Generation and all that jazz but I never noticed Deep Space Nine. I remembered a really epic space battle (my Dad likes space battles, I watched them a lot as a child) and that was about it.

I am someone that likes Enterprise, and I still ignored DS9, except for the Tribble episode. I mean, I knew who everyone was in it, but no details.

Now I am basically howling "I LOVE YOU LET ME JOIN YOUR SPACE STATION SISKO!" I am aware that apparently I will like the political shenanigans that come later, but I'm really enjoying the idea of a brand new crew, with lots of tensions, and a slightly crappy old space station. Um. I don't like Sisko, and Jadzia Dax is currently dull. I am wildly in love with Major Kira because she is desperately attractive and a bit kickass, although I can see it getting repetitive. Obviously I fancy Julian Bashir but everyone and their dog fancies Julian Bashir. Anyway, I think I've found my obsession for this summer, and need to run through DVDs before Louise, who is basically my crack supplier, goes home for the summer.

Today I cleaned the house within an inch of its existence, skirting boards and everything. Tomorrow, it all goes a bit wild. I am excited, and a bit nervous, but I think mostly excited. I will feel better when I've got through tomorrow's early morning dentistry. I'm looking forward to the dentist asking what I've done since I was last in. "Oh, well, not much; I sat my final exams, got my degree classification, I'm graduating tomorrow, and my wisdom teeth have started coming in. You?"

Finally, a meme: Name a fandom, and I'll give you the scoop on at least three of my unpopular opinions related to that fandom. I have loads of fandoms, and if I don't know what you're talking about I will make it up based entirely on fandom_secrets and LJ icons.

Star Trek reboot!

I don't have many unpopular opinions about it, to be honest. Er:

1. Scotty with a sidekick is merely proof of how he is better than everyone put together.

2. Romulans are basically naff and I think the entire idea was basically mad. Whilst I quite like Romulus, links with Vulcan, the idea of it going BOOM, even the reaction of Nero (and the neat continuation of entirely pointless Rome references) I cannot fathom a world where Spock wouldn't notice that the supernova was about to go BOOM, or one where the massively expansionist and brutal Romulan empire wouldn't just have got everyone off-world. I appreciate that in Real!Trek world they'd just had a bit of a civil upset, what with Shinzon and all, but seriously, a world that militaristic would have coped. Um, so, basically, the entire plot was flawed and the more I think about it the more it damages the film, but I have so much love for the rest of it that it overshadows shouty Eric Bana.

3. I genuinely think it would have been improved by the presence of the Enterprise cast although I appreciate the presence of a namecheck of Admiral Archer. YES I AM THAT LAME.

1. I quite like Isabella. This is apparently unpopular. I don't know why - she's wonderfully psychopathic and is actually quite rounded as a character, by Robin Hood standards.

2. I liked Much when he was a bit, you know, whiney. You know, with the mad croqueted jumper.

3. I wish Guy and Marian had got married and had lots of more smexy chemistry on screen. The only time I liked Marian was when Guy was around!

Okay, erm...

1. I can see what they were trying to do with with Sylvester MacCoy in order to get Depth and Pathos and Stuff, and sometimes they almost manage it in the screenwriting. Basically, though, I think almost all of his episodes are incoherant mushes and that Sophie Aldred can't act. THERE I SAID IT.

2. I really, really hate what the character of Rose becomes. "OH MUM I CANNOT WORK IN A SHOP ANYMORE I WOULD RATHER BE DEAD THAN BE WITH THE DOCTOR!" Romantic? Only if you're mad. It's a terrible example to set to the large amount of young girls that watch it (remember, kids, if your twu luv dies then you must die too!) and I think it ruined what was originally quitea good character. Also, she licks her teeth a lot and that really annoys me.

3. Patrick Troughton is the best of all of them. Even better than Tennant!

I like these. :-)

1. I still haven't seen any McCoy yet; we're Netflixing our way through everything they have, and we're still on Tom Baker.

2. Man, I got over Rose. I liked the first two seasons, and thought "Doomsday" was a good ending for her character. But then the Doctor wouldn't STFU about her in season 3, and when she appeared in the end of the first season four episode, I just started swearing. I still haven't seen all of season four, because I don't feel like seeing Rose again, and the summaries I've read make me want to hurl. I think that's one of the reasons I went back to watching Old Skool instead. :-)

3. I love Patrick Troughton. I also love Jon Pertwee and his awesome velvet jackets and kung-fu. I want a velvet jacket of my own.
