I am okay :) your panicking is lovely, but I'm fine; I didn't go. A babbly explanation will probably arrive on my LJ soon, but in short: I phoned up Manchester to check the open day was still running, and they weren't really sure but advised me not to come.
I am still going to try very hard to get to Leeds on Friday, unless there is an actual apocalypse. Not sure if I'll drive or get the train, especially based on what you said above about Network Rail running out of rock salt... :s
