Okay, these thoughts aren't in any order at all, but:

Spaceship of Britain is a lovely idea. HOWEVEVER, I am mildly perplexed as to why the only viewing and mention of any Northern counties is something along the lines of Lancashire being the tongue of a spacewhale. If this was true, the whale would ignore any food that wasn't encased in pastry and would have destroyed Yorkshire long ago. I am just saying this so that anyone not from Britain learns some charming foibles of the North. (Disclaimer: I was born in Lancashire, and rather embarrasingly have accidentally not only moved back here but work on a farm in Lancashire, so technically am Lancashire Lass and yes I have been known to partake of the Pie Balm Cake (with optional side portion of chips in gravy, comment for further details.) I'm just SAYING.

A minor quibble. I enjoyed it anyway, and I thought Liz 10 was great and like the idea that we will only retain a monarchy if the electorate forcibly forgets every five years. Is the queen being in charge again a result of a hung parliament that we might end up with in a month? DISCUSS.

ALSO UNEXPECTED DEMON HEADMASTER. Cunningly he appears to have the same spectacles, meaning that he is instantly recognisable assuming you are a mid to late eighties baby, otherwise you have no idea who he is. If you are within the same age range I am, then well done BBC, you were creeping me out with the horrible faces and then you threw a childhood nightmare in the series. THANKS.

Erm, yes. I enjoyed it, and for a horrible minute at the end I thought that Eleventy was going to go all Ten in his angst, but actually I like the idea that he's working it out of the system, learning that the needless angst is quite often inappropriate.

The spacewhale was a cute idea. Don't be too cross, Doctor, a lot of people in Cardiff ate spacewhale for a time.

And oh, Amy and the Doctor. I love you two like pie, the dialogue between the two is just so snappy and perfect.

I was an early ninties child, and I still remember the demon headmaster- I didn't realise when the episode was on, but having another view I've just had HORRIBLE flashbacks to that bloody TV show. Lovely.
Also, I loved your spacewhale- I just realised that!
That's what happened to the rest of the Starwhales.... or whatever it was called. Cardiff ate them all.
I noticed the Lack of Northern buildings too. I think it's cause nothing interesting really happens up here.

I like that not only are they trying to terrify tiny people with scary clowns and children being eaten, etc, they have also widened their target to anyone below the age of 25. Seriously, would anyone under about 15 have a clue who the Demon Headmaster was?

I was also perplexed at the lack of northern counties (Merseysider here. Not scouser. Merseysider. There is a difference. lol) The south may be more exciting, but, BBC, please remember that Britain does exist above the Midlands.

Poor old, Britian is Only London syndrome again. I feel we should wave a flag the size of the dales outside of the BBC Headquarters saying WE ARE HERE! Like Horton's Who's.

These were my thoughts too (well besides my thinking “OH MY GOD BRITAIN HAS TURNED INTO DISCWORLD!” at the end XD). I adored the episode for its concepts but overall Spaceship Britain just didn’t feel... put-together enough to actually even BE a country. It felt more like a travelling city (specifically London) than a whole island the size of... well, Britain. Also, am I the only one who wants to know how they worked out the Northern Ireland issue?

There is s much potential for Spaceship Britain as a concept, there really is – what’s going on in different regions? What do different landmarks look like? SARE THERE different landmarks? What kind of world is this? I really hope we go back at some point.

And yes! What I loved was how they pulled back just before they went angst city (or angst country) – I know someone out there will accuse it of being a cop out, to take a third option, but I think it was a lot better than that: had the Doctor actually made that choice then... well, he was right that he wouldn’t have been the doctor anymore, but not just because he had to do something so horrible: because he didn’t try and think of ways to avoid it. He forgot that sometimes, it’s not ALWAYS about making hard choices. It's about risking trying to find a better way.

And lucky for us, Amy was there to remind him. :) we can keep her, right? Please say we can keep her, Mister Moffat!

Different towers being different counties, right, ok, I get that, but is there, I don't know, some kind of barrier between Yorkshire and Lancashire towers? Is there an Angel of the North knocking around somewhere? Are there pies? Seeing as everyone still appears to be talking Estuary English, is there a cut scene where Liz 10 goes to Newcastle and they're all "Why aye pet BYKER GROVE" and other regional stereotypes? I hope there is, actually.
