Go and watch Toast. Go and watch it now. I don't particularly like Nigel Slater or his reciples, and Freddie Highmore with a voice that's broken should be weird, but I've laughed, and I've cried my eyes out, and it's the best thing I've seen on telly all Christmas. In that statement I'm including Doctor Who, Upstairs Downstairs, and Abby using S-Club 7 to fight off a spinosaurus in Primeval. That's right. I am actually stating that an adaption of the memoirs of a celebrity chef is better than Doctor Who.

I saw most of that while it was on tv too! Good stuff, although I'm not sure if I'd complain if I had Helena Bonham-Carter as my stepmother making such luscious food every day!
