hathycolSo this weekend my mother-in-law came to visit. It was, to be honest, slightly stressful. On Thursday I finished up at work and had lovely end-of-work feelings; Richie and I had a Date Night, with wine and Mexican food. On Friday we had a very small amount of notice before it turned out she was in the way; never before have I so hastily scrubbed the house and made myself presentable.
We did the best we could do on Friday, nipping to the pub and going out for food. Unfortunately I was starting to feel quite rubbish, and by Saturday morning I was feeling truly terrible. I got to spend a day on Saturday without having to go out, but was feeling properly rubbish. By Sunday it was morphed into a fully developed layngitis/throat infection thing. It's literally as fun as it sounds.
So I was, obviously, the exemplar of a wonderful daughter-in-law. Ugh. I did manage to sort myself out enough to do a roast dinner on Sunday. Sandra and Dennis left afterwards, fortunately, and I've spent today being vaguely pathetic. I mean, I don't even have a sexy voice, it's just a sort of weird croaking.
I have to be back in work tomorrow come hell or high water so fingers crossed I feel better, if not sound better. Taking the day off sick isn't really an option, but I might plead off lunchtime switchboard cover, ha.
So, you know, happy Easter?
