Sep. 20th, 2011 08:39 pmToday I have been researching Christmas party nights for work. Christmas. Dear lord. I am aware of the date, but I'm also aware that if I don't do it, no one will.
The reason I'm doing this is that K has finally left work in order to head off and become a nurse. I am wildly jealous of her for getting to go to university and follow her dream, and I will also miss her desperately as she is my work buddy, and now I am a bit alone, all things considered.
It was due to K I was so horribly hungover on Saturday, as it was her leaving do. I ended up leaving at midnight as I didn't want to drink any more, and staying would have led to far too much drinking. I feel really guilty for leaving early, but it was probably a good thing that I did as shots were being wildly flung about.
Also, my mum was babysitting on Friday night for an actual three month old baby. Gemma, Amelia's mum, is a good mate of Megan's, and they went out on Friday after breaking Mum is slowly to the idea of babysitting. I came down in the morning to get a cup of tea and discovered my mum watching Angelia Ballerina. I can tell you for free that The Tweenies is a really bad idea with a chronic hangover, although I did get to tell Amelia about the moral problems with 'The Elves and the Shoemaker'. "A rich man spending his money on expendable items shouldn't be the solution. Taxation should be more equal, meaning he would have had a welfare state safety net during the bad times. Also, why is his wife written out of the narrative? This is wrong." A worse hangover would possibly have killed me.
I'm feeling a combination of 'bah, humbug' and also craving turkey after a day of looking at Christmas menus. BAD COMBO.
