Feb. 17th, 2011 05:52 pmI went to see The King's Speech yesterday. I have been trying to see this film for about three weeks. "If it's sold out," I said grimly to Jo, "I am going to buy a ticket for another film and sneak into it anyway."
Luckily, I didn't have to do that as apparently we timed our arrival well, although the cinema was packed by the time it started, and I was sat next to an old lady that decided jabbing me in the arm with her elbows was a fun sport. HINT IT'S NOT.
Anyway, I enjoyed it more than I was expecting to. I feel a bit guilty, actually, as me and the royal family don't see eye to eye, exactly, and I resent romanticisng the, but basically I just really enjoyed the film. Also we got Mr Darcy and Lizzy Bennett in a scene together, which frankly would have redeemed the entire film if it was the worst piece of dross I've ever seen. In conclusion, go and see it.
Work is hellishly quiet at the moment, which may or may not be a good thing as we are re-decorating. By 'we' I mean that some random joiners/plasterers/roofers are attacking the room upstairs to make an Executive Boardroom (AHAHAHAHA) and one of the lads from outside has been re-painting the office. This means every day is spent in a bizarre melange of freezing to death because all of the windows are open to let the paint fumes out, but the paint is so cheap we're all sickened and slightly high off the fumes anyway. This means that although it's been tremendously dull at least there's some mild excitement going on.
... I have pretty much nothing else in my life worth talking about right now. Ah well.
