Oh I am sooooo behind on this for this year.

01. What did you do in 2014 that you'd never done before?
Enrolled to night school
... not all that sure what else, I think. Oooh, I went to a secret speakeasy, does that count?
Discovered I had ASMR.

02. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Last year I wanted to 'do some more learning in a formal setting'. BOOM, ACHIEVED.

This year, I would like to ensure that I work on talking to more people and trying to... if not make new friends, at least securing now acquaintances.

03. Did someone close to you give birth?
Nope, although the ongoing trait of hordes of people I went to school with getting pregnant continues apace.

04. Did anyone close to you die?
Yes. In February my housemate from university, Sarah, took her own life. And it was awful and I still miss her.

2014, to be honest, hasn't been kind.

05. What countries did you visit?
I went to Scotland. And came back from India in January. That was it.

06. What would you like to have in 2015 that you lacked in 2014?
For good things to happen, and stay happened.
I still want that bloody new bed, too, but we DO have some savings for it.

07. What date from 2014 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
The start of the year, I think. Also, the dates themselves won't stick with me, but the weddings I went to are some very happy memories.

08. What was your biggest achievement(s) of the year?
Getting into college and really securing my career.

09. What was your biggest failure(s)?
General... unhappiness. A bad tendency to put things off, get stressed because I've put them off, so put them off further because I can't deal with them. This is what is known as A Bad Cycle.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Last year's answer: Touch wood, it's been a remarkably healthy year. LET'S NOT JINX THAT EH?
About ten days later I got what we are still referring to as Probable Dysentery. What splendid fun that was. This year has also thrown some disastrous laryngitis at me.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
This year I managed to buy some reasonably thoughtful gifts for people. That's it, really. I am quite proud of this, though!

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
Richie's. My friend's.

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
The behaviour of far too many politicians, this year.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Travelling, and paying off debt. One thing worth saying, though: nearly there!

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
AAAHAAAHHHAAAHAAA HOOKED ON A FEELING! etc
But yes, lots of geeky stuff got me excited.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. Happier or Sadder? Sadder.
ii. Thinner or fatter? Fatter.
iii. Richer or Poorer? Richer - payrises, wahey.

So that's a thing.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Going to the cinema; visiting friends. And seeing more Outdoors during the summer.
And sleeping! I plan to take more time off and enjoy the chance to just Do Nothing next year.
Writing! Getting there by the end of the year, hopefully I can wrangle it.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Rushing about and worrying about the fact I'm worrying.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Christmas has already occured. I spent the week in Richie's neck of the woods, seeing all of his family. It was... lengthy.

22. Did you fall in love in 2014?
I never answer this question.

23. How many one-night stands?
None.

24. What was your favorite TV program?
Orange in the New Black was bloody brilliant.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Nope.

26. What was the best book you read?
I've read quite a few great books this year! Bit torn between Rivers of London by Ben Aaronovitch and Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Skunk Anansie. And... er... Taylor Swift. Ahem.

28. What did you want and get?
Well, now. Does 'new tights' count?

29. What did you want and not get?
Still a lottery win, I'm afraid.

30. Favourite film of this year?
Guardians of the Galaxy, by a long shot!

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I was a million years old, or 27 as I believe it's more traditionally referred to. I woke up at my grandparents house and then schlepped up to Ormskirk and had fish and chips at my parent's house.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
It's... consistency of happiness I think. I have had lots of lovely things happen, but I would rather they had happened without any of the sad bits. At least for a little time.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2014?
'Hey, This Is How Lipstick Works!' OR, 'Periodically Achieving Adulthood'

34. What kept you sane?
Fandom; Richie.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Orlando Bloom came swooping back in. And how.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
The rage around the Scottish independence debate. Not that the debate happened, not with either side, but the sheer rage on either side made me just... sad.

37. Who do you miss?
Sarah, this year.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
This year I have got to know some people a little better, in particular Claire and Mary. I've also got to know [livejournal.com profile] littlered2 as well which has been lovely!

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2014:
Sometimes it's okay to have crappy years.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
"I guess we'll just have to adjust." Wake Up, by Arcade Fire.
(Although, like everyone else, there is a lot to be said for "Shake shake shake it off"!)

Basically, I just... didn't enjoy a lot of 2014. Which is odd, because I rather enjoyed many individual events within 2014, and I met lovely new people, and I did new things. Overall, though, this is not a year I shall be sad to see out.

Thank you for mentioning me! I have enjoyed getting to know you too, and I would like to do more of it. Sorry for the shyness. (Also, sorry for not RSVPing to you yet - I would like to come, but if I still have this cold tomorrow, may not end up doing so. What time do you want people to come round?)

I hope your 2015 is happier than your 2014 has been.

I am also rubbish at socialising but next year will be attempting more!

Come around for about eight please? My number is 07557373876 - doorbell broken :-)

Food and drink requests? The veggie part is sorted so no fear there. Will Rob be coming too?

I hope you feel better and are able to come around, even if it's only for a bit!

Thanks! My number is 07892 604238.

Yes, if I come, Rob will also be coming. Thanks for the veggie reassurance! I will let you know tomorrow if I will be coming or not - if I am feeling then like I am now, then probably not, but hopefully I will make a miraculous recovery. And thank you again for the invitation.
