Sep. 7th, 2015 05:46 pmI am on HOLIDAY FROM WORK. Today, amongst other things, I have finished my Holiday Shopping, watched some Defiance, and because I was early to meet Richie for lunch, sat in The Angel with a new comic and drank half a pint. Happiness, yo.
So now I'm rocking a Fandom Update, because why not.
1. I am on tumblr both reluctantly and rarely. hathycol, for those interested. Still struggling to see the point of it, even with Chris Evans gifs.
2. Things I am starting to see the point of: graphic novels. Okay, I always saw the point of them but like video games I found it easier not to get into them due to a lack of time. However, after hovering around the edges for a bit things have started to move faster. You can blame fanfiction, which led to ending up reading Hawkeye and Ms Marvel and it's starting to... move. Fiona got me Nimona for my birthday, which was excellent, loaned me Saga which is SO GOOD OH MY GOD ("Don't listen to Sexy Alana! She's an idiot!") and today I bought myself Sex Criminals due to the Matt Fraction link and oh god I think this is how it starts.
3. I finally finished watching Agent Carter! It was bloody splendid. I knew some of the spoilers, and I ended up crying my eyes out at "I know my value; anyone else's opinion doesn't really matter." I am mighty tempted to tattoo along these lines. However, I didn't know an awful lot of the other bits that came up - the stuff about the Red Room, and the shocker at the end! That's how Zola screwed up Bucky's memory, and how Leviathan links in to Hydra and OH GOD I CAN'T TAKE IT.
4. Speaking of spoilers, a Guardian review spoiled me for The Shepherd's Crown. Bad times. Any other times I could have taken it, but this spoiler, for this book? Awful. I have bought it, and it's sitting in my house, and I just... can't bear to read it, right now.
5. I am attempting to get caught up on Defiance before I leave the country on holidays. It remains very good but with the constant nagging suspicion it could be so much more. That said, Datak just cut his arm off, we have someone who I can only refer to as Sexy Samir, Doc Yewll remains amazing and, well, aliens being aliens. Although I much preferred Rahm Tak to the Omec, who seem a bit too much.
6. Ripper Street is back on the telly. I am five weeks behind. Oops. Hoping to bingewatch tomorrow, but we shall see. Susan still has AMAZING hats, which we can all agree is the point of the endeavour.
In other news did I mention I'm on holiday from work for TWO WEEKS and also on Thursday I am off to Corfu for a weeks all inclusive. On Wednesday I have a list of books and a budget and I cannot wait to update my Kindle with all the stuff I've been waiting to read for AGES. (Although: if you have any last minute recommendations, send them now!)
I was beginning to feel super burnt out, I realised last week when I managed to get stupid drunk on a very small amount of wine (well, for me). I was constantly tired, grumpy, and found even the easiest tasks at work very difficult. It was hard to prep through last week to handover everything for work, but it was worth it, because now I am moderately well rested and capable of doing things like, oh, updating livejournal and catching up on telly.
