Very odd conversation with Dad.

Was watching X-Men, the actual old cartoon, and Dad walks through in a little bit with a flash through. Dad looks at TV screen with scrunity, and goes: "Why's Thor in this?"

Stargate fangirl brain kicks in, so obviously, I ask what on Earth he's going on about, Thor isn't IN X-Men. Dad replies by informing me that actually Thor was in a lot of Marvel comics, and was worse than Spiderman for cameos.

Brief moment of stunned silence. I knew Dad was a SF geek from way back (heriditary, I tell you), but I never knew he was a comic person.

So, fuelled by curiousity, asked Dad just what he actually KNEW about comics. Dad then begins a long rant about:

Why the X-Men were wusses ("any superheroes that need to gang together to fight and even then don't win have to be crap. Although Wolverine was always interesting, and so was Gambit.")

Why Hulk and Daredevil ROCKED ("They were the loners! Even the love interest wasn't proper! AND they could fight by themselves and still win")

Why the baddies were always more interesting ("You knew they wouldn't win, but for a time, you thought they might. Better than DC any day")

And then he ranted about Dr Strange ("best that Stan Lee ever did") and the naffness of Captain America ("pointless, pointless American propaganda")

He then wandered off to make a bacon sandwich, leaving me with a new found respect for my Dad, and realising why he refused to see X2.

Parents. You think you know them, and suddenly they come out by saying something like that. Bizarre!
