Firstly, a meme, nicked from [livejournal.com profile] settiai

Well, I've been Colleen for many, many years. 16, in fact. Yet like most English people, the name was hewed down to Col by the age of about 8, and while Colleen is used fairly often, and also in formal documents, most people from school/Guides/dancing grew to call me Col.

At age 13, I grew to be Hathor, and that was my online name. Many people actually called me Hathor in real life, including [livejournal.com profile] nepygill when she wanted to be Stargatey, and many conventiony people referred to be as Hathor.

So, Hathor was I, and Colleen I was also. They actually began to grow slightly different personalities. Anyway, at age 15, [livejournal.com profile] shipperkitten and [livejournal.com profile] loneraven spent an afternoon nagging me into getting a livejournal. So I did. And I thought "Hmmm. It would include both of my 'personalities', so what would I call it?"

And the answer came to be through my mate Jolinar@Carter, who had once called me "HathyCol!"

And so, Hathy_Col was born, and my personalities died down, and now I'm Hathy_Col almost all of the time.

I have to go out soon. I need to go and buy some films for the convention, as well as hire a copy of The Atkins Diet. The plan is, currently, that I'm turning up to the con as Famine ala Good Omens. Are you sure you won't be War, Emily? Please?

Also have to go to the dentist, which is Not Fun. And then I will come home, do my English homework ("Describe the voice used in the article, and how it is achieved.") And then I will go to work. Which is also Not Fun.

Anyway. Last night, I FINALLY got around to watching the second part of Henry VIII. With Sean Bean in. I liked the second part better, and no, not just because of Sean Bean, and not just because the one who played Catherine Howard was absolutely lovely. It was more enjoyable, and I laughed my socks off at the Boromir stuff they had going on for Robert Aske's death.

He ran in to the hall, and all these soldiers approached around him. He does a completely Boromir-esque sword fight, when someone with a crossbow shoots him. I swear to god. We even got a shot of someone looking victorious while holding the bow, and then one of Aske looking slighlty traumatised... before leaping up and fighting a bit more before he's shot again. And most of it was in slo-mo, with the sound done in a very Boromir fashion.

Hysterical. At least to me.

And then I went to watch X-Men, with my mother. Which turned out to be a mistake. Mum did watch the cartoons with us when we were younger, but her memories are less than clear. For example:

The first fight scene in the cage:
"Is that Wolverine?"
"Yes."
"Oooh, yum!"
"..."
"Well, he is. Not that you'd notice."
"*HalleBerryandKellyHumumblings* No, probably not. He's too tall be to Wolverine, anyway."
"Who cares?!"

Rogue And Wolverine In The Camper Van Thingie:
"Oh! Is she Storm?"
"Mum, Storm's real name is Ororo and she used to work as an African weather goddess."
"Is that a no?"
"..."
(Rogue revelas name)
"Oh! I get it! She's Rogue!"
"*sigh* Well done, Mum."

Cyclops And Storm turn up:
"Is that Gambit?"
By this point, Megan is in the room.
"God Mum, Gambit had CARDS! Even I know that!"

In The Office, Complete With Introductions:
"Oh. Right. So what's Jean Grey's power?"
*stare* "As in the one who levitated the object to herself?"
"Yes. What's her power?"
*headshake*

It went on throughout the film, and lets not even go into complex discussions on who Toad and Mystique are, and our debate that Patrick Stewart just shakes his head and sticks it on his chest.

Sigh. Parents today...

I'm wearing the Kendra dress... why does everyone keep asking if I'll be war? Clare said something about red hair earlier, though I wouldn't have a clue...
