(no subject)
Feb. 15th, 2008 04:55 pmSo last night, someone rang the doorbell. I answered, and was handed a parcel. I got roses! In the form of a shrub, mind you, which means that they will last longer. This depends heartily on my ability to keep the thing alive.
Yay Simon. :-)
Anyway, I watched ( Reset last night... )
Now it is a Friday night. I went to my class today - a Scottish history course about Edward I and his expansion over the British Isles, which sounds suspiciously non-Sottish to me BUT WHO AM I TO QUESTION. Class ratio of a couple of English, two Welsh, two Scots and the rest Americans, primarily JSAs. This is fine in itself, but I do wonder why they beeline so much for the Scottish history when Scots don't; the history taught at St Andrews in general, particularly all of the medieval, is the type it's tricky to get in American colleges (as I understand it) so I'm not sure why there's the obsession with taking a Scottish course.
Huh.
Anyway. My week is over - and even better, I don't have to buy any books this semester! As such, I went into Waterstones with my book tokens from Christmas and am now the proud owner of Elizabeth Gaskell's 'Cranford' (okay, I liked the TV progam), something from Richard and Judy's Book Club (DON'T JUDGE ME) and 'Pies and Prejudice' which is a book examining what it's like being from the North. It sounds far too familiar, especially given that the bloke went to Skelmersdale College, which is incidentally where my sister is studying for the childcare NVQs.
However, I'm going to go and get plastered tonight instead. This is clearly the sensible thing to do. Ys.
