Feb. 9th, 2009 04:00 pmI am now on the first day of my last ever semester. This is a bit frightening. I got out of bed fairly early and staggered to the library to do all the work I have to do by tomorrow and clearly didn't start until yesterday, despite having had two months to do it. This probably says all you need to know about how this semester will probably go. I haven't even finished writing up my reading. I will do this when I warm up a bit. It's freezing today. I'm genuinely debating wrapping my scarf around my head.
Anyway. Yesterday I got flowers! I'm not 100% sure who they're from; I'm pretty sure due to some text messages earlier in the day, but there wasn't a note, and I have no idea why I have flowers. The last two times I got anything resembling flowers it was because I was ill and there had been an argument; the other time I got a rosebush instead, which died long ago but the bowl it came in is a lovely and stylish fruit bowl now. As such, I'm delighted, obviously, and they're sitting in, er, a jug on my desk (it's a decorative jug, if it helps) and look very nice indeed. Now I feel a bit bad that I have unilaterally cancelled Valentine's Day, but in all honesty I'm now quite looking forward to spending the evening in partial-and-entirely-voluntary-exile in my room, with either a few thermos's full of tea, or possibly a bottle of wine and some nice snacky food, and a crappy film or a crappy book. (I am a bit tempted by a Terminator evening, as I've never seen the first or third film, despite really liking the tely program and having seen the second one half a dozen times.) Anyway, I say 'unilateral decision' but both parties appear okay with this, so there we are. I'll put up some photos soon, but after I've gone and done some work downstairs in a vain attempt to warm up a bit.
