(no subject)

Today I got up, stomped along the road with the intention of getting the train to Liverpool. After a fifteen minute stomp in the freezing weather, I got there and discovered there was no train service to Liverpool today.

ARGH.

Stomped back to the house and debated my options, which was basically 'Sorry guys, Christmas is cancelled because the trains were' or risking driving to Southport in the deathtrap car. Eventually I reasoned that I had never died on the way to Dundee despite having a truly awful car, so took my chances and went to Southport for a mostly successful Christmas shopping trip; I got most of what I needed to, and that's what counts.

I've come home to discover that Ed and Julia have rooted through the attic to find all of Julia's grandmother's old Christmas decorations, so now the house is covered in fairy lights. The Crazy Neighbour just came around to ask me to move my car (and stood in his porch watching me do so) but other than that I think I am mostly at peace with the world, determined not to let an apparently continuous train of disasters derail me. I have work to stress me out, I can't let the rest of my life do it.

Now I am going to go and make gingerbread, and after that I'm going to do all the wrapping and Christmas card writing. Festive, I AM IT.
