It has been a marginally exciting week. I've been flat out in work covering my job and the job of two other people at one point, which was fun when I seized up on Tuesday after the fall of foolishness and couldn't lift my arm above my head. KEEPING BUSY THAT'S THE KEY. Now I am back down to covering my job and the job of one other person, and I can move again, so everything feels weirdly peaceful except for the bits when I'm running around like a mad person and not having lunch breaks which is sort of every day. The moral of the story is roll on Monday when the person I'm covering for comes back from her holiday I will hold on to her ankles and cry for her never to leave again, or at least to do so when I know what I'm doing and when they're not rebuilding the office.

That aside, I have actually developed something resembling a social life. I went out with Dee on Thursday night who was charming and generally wonderful company. Occasionally Dee can be a little... er... cynical and angry at the world, so it was lovely to see. We talked about how nice it was that, generally speaking, people's lives seem to be going okay, or if they're not they're on a decent track. Plus we had some good pizza, which I always enjoy. And then I had a reasonably busy weekend too. Went to see Les Miserables on Saturday and then went to the pub for 'just one drink' which obviously wasn't just one drink, oh dear. On Sunday we went to Guildford to see Richie's old housemate who was hosting a gathering of a large amount of people, all being fed a delicious Sunday roast.

I was a bit nervous about this, because I didn't know everyone there and I'd volunteered to drive because the train was too expensive. What didn't help was that my SatNav decided to take me through CENTRAL LONDON. Anyone who has seen me drive in a new city, I am generally a bit of a wreck, and I'm working hard on clamping down on my exquisite fear every time I get in the car. SHE (for my NatNAv is a lady and I call her Cynthia) TOOK ME ON OXFORD STREET AND AROUND HYDE PARK CORNER AND ALL OF KNIGHTSBRIDGE OH GOD. It was moderately exciting sometimes but mostly I was trying not to scream out loud the whole time.

Where was I. Ah, yes. Anyway, gathering of people I mostly didn't know. It was good fun, though, and the food was pretty awesome. I'm glad I went, because I am all in favour of seeing people I am not married to/work with. (I like both of those things, just, you know, variety is the spice of life.) On thr drive home we tried Clive The Phone SatNav and he took us an eminently more sensible route. Never have I before been so glad to see the North Circular rather than BAKER STREET FOR GOD'S SAKE SHE'S TRYING TO KILL ME.

This week I am also quite busy. Tomorrow I am going to see Sue Perkins record a radio program that I have never listened to but WHO CARES SUE PERKINS. I am so excited it isn't even funny. Then the rest of this week heralds Stuff That Is Happening so it's all quite exciting.

Tonight, mind, I'm going to have an early night and sleep a lot. That is sensible.
