It's been an odd couple of weeks. I've been going from "LET'S PANIC ABOUT MONEY" which is a legit issue and explains why, alas alas and thrice alas, I wasn't at Glasgow Collectormania this weekend. I was devastated to miss it, but bluntly there are bills to pay and I am going to COUNT THEM at least six weddings in the next twelve months over at least three countries if you count Scotland as a different country. So, you know. And then some stuff happened and I am significantly less freaked out about money, although wracked with other issues but that is because basically I am weird about money.

The moral of the story is that things were always going to end up on an even keel but now the keel has evened out a little earlier than I expected and my car insurance bill in two months won't be so brutally terrifying. I mean, it will, but less so.

Er, what else. I have applied for an Indian visa, which was a surprisingly difficult process, involving howling rage at a computer screen and weird photos and trying to find out where my mother was born and vaguely hoping they don't find out about my aunt's husband who is from Pakistan. We got up ridiculously early on bank holiday Monday and went to the visa centre full of dread that they would hate our souls and everything would be wrong and we'd be there for hours (I've heard some horror stories) but the whole thing was pleasant efficiency itself. We've now had confirmations that our passports and visas are ready to pick up so tomorrow I am scarpering across the City, shouting at tourists and hopefully getting all the details. Then it's just vaccinations, travel insurance, undergarments for the sari, make up and I'm DONE! I even found a pair of sandals in the sale that will make lovely wedding shoes and also just be lovely shoes in general. SO MINOR VICTORY THERE.

Oh! I know what to talk about! On Tuesday we won at the pub quiz!

Richie, Fiona and I have been going to a weekly pub quiz in Walthamstow. It has minimal football questions and a nice crowd, and last week there was a round on superheroes. We got full marks. (Thanks, internet - if it wasn't for vague stuff on LJ I wouldn't have known anything about Green Arrow.) Everyone is London in Walthamstow, though, is freakingly intelligent and we keep coming spectacularly last. If you're in the top 7 you have a chance at a prize but we are constantly outside of it. But this week, we were seventh! And our number was rolled, and after a quick round of Play Your Cards Right that was freakishly lucky, we won the jackpot of, er, just over £20. Still, not too shabby!

It's quite nice, having a weekly Thing to go to, and Fiona has started bringing Elspeth, which is lovely because I'm all in favour of making new friends and she's really nice!

So generally speaking, everything is going well. Can't argue, I suppose, but it makes for boring updates.
