Nov. 11th, 2003 03:53 pmThere are many things in this world that I Do Not Like. These include Americana in Lord of the Rings fic, Sam/Jack people who won't accept Sam/Daniel, maths, physics, practice exam papers, the BNP, novacaine, Homebase and the dentist.
I was exposed to the last three today. Not Happy.
Firstly, the BNP came in the middle of my politics, when we had to watch on of their Party Election Broadcasts.
(For those of you unfamiliar with these little gems, they're little pices of propaganda put on the TV by a particular political party who are after getting the job as leaders of this country. They're a bit crap. They are also exempt from normal broadcasting laws, and as such can say whatever lies or spin they fancy, such as "Hey kids! Mrs Thatcher's a really good choice for this country!" or "You know what? New Labour really isn't the Tories by another name! Honest!" )
Anyway, we had to watch the British National "Blatently Fascist And Racist" Parties election broadbast, and I was shocked. Really, really shocked. And I quote:
"We will halt immigration, and we will help to send immigrants back to where they came from!"
Marvellous. To where will they send me then? You've got a choice: Ireland through my fathers side? Canda through my mothers side? Or possibly Scandinavea- yes, we have very strong Viking heritage in my family!
Dude, England is a country of invaders and immigrants. Go far enough back, and we're all from what is now known as France, Denmark, Sweden and Germany! Good grief.
Dreadful broadcast, and I feel ashamed that they called themselves British, frankly. I came out of the lesson feeling sick at just how popular a choice the BNP are around here. Awful. (Oldham, Burnley, Blackpool, etc.)
The very worst part was the fact we watched it about 5 minutes after observing the Armistice Day silence.
Then I had a history lesson, and then I had to go home and go to the dentist. For a filling. Never, ever, ever fun. I got the injection, and now the right side of my face is uncomfortably numb, and I had to sit there whilst they messed around in my mouth. Yeeeeeesh. Hate the dentist.
And you know what makes it worse? I have to go to work tonight. Oh, yay. Not.

...the BNP
Urgh. Urrrgh. Just uurgh...
Our 2 minutes silence was in the middle of the senior maths challenge, which was a bit weird... we didn't have to stand up, but we did have to stop in the middle of an "external exam".
I went to one of the WWI graveyards in France a few years ago to visit the grave of a [distant] relative. It was so saddening to see the rows and rows of white headstones. :(
Just a really random comment here...
