Warning! Excessive obscenity ahead!
Apr. 11th, 2004 03:36 pmWell, it is the end of Lent.
Thank fucking god for that.
For those who joined me in the middle of Lent (and it's a worrying proportion of y'all) I am, technically, Catholic. Or at least in birth, and when you're raised as such and even manage to scrape an A in RE, you end up feeling slightly Catholic. Despite never going to Church, publically arguing with an Archbishop, being openly gay, pro-contraceptive, pro-abortion, and generally being quite non-Catholic, some stuff sticks with you. One of these is the tradition of Lent.
God, but it's buggaring hard to give up stuff. And I gave up swearing. And now, now it is over!
There is £6.10 in the swear jar all together. But now it doesn't matter. Because I can swear like marine again!
Nice nice parents also coughed up an Easter egg, and (to my surprise) A Master And Commander DVD. I was ever so surprised. And chuffed, o'course.
And that disease seems suprisingly appropriate.
Tomorrow I should start revising. Who knows; I actually might.
And now I need something to get angry about so I can actually swear.

Re: lent
Date: 2004-04-12 12:51 pm (UTC)Well. Basically, he came into our RE class for a Q&A session because we were a good Catholic school. And he owed us. We played in the Cathedral a while before that. (I played a cello solo! And fell out of the bus! That's another story.)
Anyhoo. I asked him if he thought that the Catholic Church should change with the changing world. He said no. I then argued my point rather passionately about change in the world and how society was changing and then I rambled a bit about how if they want to get people into the desparetly failing Church then they needed to be with it. I was going to throw in a comment about the Pope but it wasn't pretty. The RE teacher changed the subject and refused to speak to me for the rest of the year.
Ah well.
