Apr. 23rd, 2004 12:08 pmMe: "You know, I think we had our revolution a bit too early. Another hundred years and we would have gotten rid of monarchs entirely!"
Louise: "That's a point. If only Cromwell hadn't have been around..."
Me: "Yeah! We'd have a real domocracy! Like... like... France!"
Louise: "Do we really want to be like that?"
Me: "Like America... no, wait."
Louise: "Thinking about it, we had our revolution at entirely the right time."
And that is what you get with two students who share 17th-century history and modern day politics. We have also decided that we want Pervy Dave to teach us the French Revolution because we know that he'll do it with cheesy accents and actions.
See? History is as fun as you make it.
What am I doing at the moment? Well, I'm at college, and I have a delightfully brilliant free period. I do, actually, plan on getting off my arse and finishing off a history past paper, and over this holidays, I will start Writing Notes. I may evem learn the notes, but personally, I like having something to show for my revision. So notes are always the pointless way to go. I think it's high time I made a start on history, at any rate. *grins* No, really.
Actually, tomorrow I will be at work. The parents are going out, and I plan to rent Kill Bill because I am extremely curious, having heard reviews from both side of the spectrum. I will watch, and maybe even review. If you're really lucky.
Any. Now I am hungry and will go and finish off various bits and bobs of past papers before toddling canteen ways.
You know what's ironical? I sit here and babble about how great history is, and I agreed to miss the Monday session so that I can go and help out with the interviews for the new Media teacher. This is because a. POWER! I will have an effect on all my departments! and also b. because Steve flattered my ego by finding me in the corridor and asking me specifically. I like being told I'm needed. Am so pathetic.
