Wow, but that was scary. I was sitting here, preparing to type, and the most godawful alarm went off. I suspect it may have been the fire alarm. The librarian was making moves to switch off all the computers, and it just went quiet again. I hate it when the fire alarm goes of unexpectantly, it makes me feel panicky and nervous. Which is never a good feeling, actually.

After last nights (somewhat understandable) hissy fit, I did nothing. Well, I had a bath, but that really doesn't count.

This morning, I was once again extremely tempted to scive college, but my conscience kicked in. Unfortunately, it made me late enough so as to have a shower. I now feel rather ick. I'm so dependent on my morning shower, now. People will know this from having shared a room with me and watch me turn from the Student Sleep Monster to Perky Guide Leader Extraordinaire. I'm worried as to how this will work at camp this year, in which showers are a weekly event if you're lucky. How can I be Perky Guide Leader Extraordinaire if I can't get out of Student Sleep Monster mode?

Anyway.

After my disastrous mark in history yesterday, karma smiled on me by giving me a good English mark. Unit 1 in my nemesis, but unit 2 is pretty and gives me encouraging 20/24 and A grades. I can't really complain. *preens*

I'm a little hungry now, but I plan on going to an Expidition to Orrell to buy food during lunch rather than depending on the somewhat dire canteen. The weather seems to have got it's act together and remembered what month it was, so it's pleasent enough to go outside.

Anyway. Now I am listening to Muse and arsing around on the internet. Life is good like that. And hurrah! Lookit what [livejournal.com profile] flickerswitch made for me! When are sporks not fun?

Back in the day, when I was a) healthy and b) a patrol leader, I had good results with "head in a bucket of cold water" followed by "porridge (and sugar) for breakfast". It may be worth a try.

And I love the icon, btw.

Head in bucket of cold water...

Well, I know what I'm trying this summer!

Do make sure it's cold. Warm water doesn't work nearly as well, and hot water may bring you to a new understanding of the phrase "go boil your head", but is more likely to end in casualty than efficiency. :) (Aren't I just a fountain of good advice? I do apologise.)

Thanks! Well, since you asked... (and the only thing one can do with good advice is give it away): 1) write mpreg at least once a year; 2) make sure you wake up before you try lighting the fire; 3) when it's really, really dark, close your eyes; 4) avoid ice cream that purports to have vitamins in; and 5) always send feedback.

At least two of those are genuine.

1. No, I merely beta other peoples

2. A wise idea

3. I don't need to, by the time it's thart dark I tend to already be asleep

4. Ice cream has essential nutrients, like chocolate. It doesn't need any more

5. I try my very hardest.

In return, I can only offer up the smallest piece of wisdom: never eat yellow snow.

1. A very fine sort of person to have around!

2. I have my moments of wisdom. Of course, I have other moments when I start writing "Ponder is the son of Harry and Neville", but I try and think of this as the universe maintaining a natural balance.

3. Me too, these days.

4. Very true. I try to tell people this, but they don't always believe me. Apparently "mint" isn't one of the trace elements required for life to exist.

5. Good-- I'm terrible about it.
