I am fairly on top of matters with Ye Wedding. We have booked everything than can be booked thus far, and are reasonably on top of everything else.

So obviously I had a screaming nightmare last night in which my awful relatives turned up. Obviously. (They hogged the photographer! Do you know how much a photographer COSTS?)

I am not inviting a large swathe of my family, an issue I have dealt with mostly by ignoring it as a problem. I don't know any of Dad's relatives, and they don't know me - there isn't a problem there. The problem is Mum's side of the family. In terms of extended family, it's Grandad, Nan, Marvellous Auntie Val (she's 80! she can drink you under the table! and makes brilliant spotted dick!), and Lee and Charlotte. Lee is a cousin who I am inviting (along with his partner Charlottle) to keep Grandad happy on the basis that Grandad is pushing a lot of money into the wedding. That's it.

The invitations have got out, and I suspect various aunts are getting the hump. I know this as out of the blue I have recieved facebook contact from an aunt. I am ignoring this contact as I can't be bothered with the argument. The problem is that I don't know them particularly well, and what I know I don't like. I dislike benefits fraud, I dislike they way my mother was and still is treated by them, and frankly enough we're on limited space and money and I'd rather have friends there. I just... can't be bothered talking about it, really. I have too much passive-aggressive conflict in work, and I can't face it outside of work.

So am ignoring problem and allowing it to come out in my subconscious instead. SENSIBLE SEE.

In all seriousness, I have mellowed out on the wedding issue. My dream last night also led to me waking up and having a epiphany that silk flowers are totally the way forward for a display at the reception, but other than that I am quite chilled. My dress and the bridesmaids are sorted, we're waiting for double staff discount at Debenham for the men (next month, I think), the florist is provisionally booked, the photographer is completely booked, all of the venues are booked, the cake is planned if not booked, the DJ is sorted. Hotels for mini-honeymoon are booked. Invitations are out and we'll need to wait a few weeks before badgering for RSVPs. (ALTHOUGH please don't assume I know your attendence so please drop me a line...) The name change issue is resolved on and discussed with family. My birth certificate copy has arrived. Everything else to be done can't be done until after Christmas, meaning Richie and I can stress about work until then. GOOD TIMES.

But in the meanwhile I will ignore this message from Dot as to be honest I can't be arsed.

In brighter news, last night we won at tha pub quiz! LITERAL WIN. This means I am up by a fiver. Hurrah! Also, Thor turned up through LoveFilm so I'm watching that tonight with a very well-deserved glass of red wine. See, it's not all bad.

Ugh, families. *hugs* Absolute minefield.

For my brother's wedding he had three family members there: me, Mum and an auntie. His wife had about two hundred. I don't think her family go in for social introversion... ours do, though, and that does cut down the numbers quite a lot. I don't think Carl's family do, which is worrying me a little given the number of cousins he seems to have.

Ignoring everyone is the way to go.
