So, I'm back in college, feeling ever so much better. Had a full history lesson this morning, which as rather amusing. I do love history when we start doing something new. We've all been given A Project, which seems to be a universal thing across the subject board. Anyway, for my subject I chose Charles II mistresses. Since there were something like 25 (known) mistresses, I had to further define my choices. Nell Gwynne is my new heroine, though. She sits there in the carriage which is being mobbed by people who believe she is the Catholic Louise de Keroualle. She leans out and declares "Pray be still, good people! I am the Protestant whore!"
All this said, I'm focussing on Louise de Keroualle because she's fascinating.
However, we didn't learn a lot. Many just-out-of-school type people were coming in for tester days, and two of them got lumped in our classroom just as Barbara Palmer and Charles were doing their thing in the video. We were hastily sent for break at this point. Poor Dave. Speaking of, he seems to have heard my plea for something to read. We have a Book List of fictional yet historical novels so that we have something to do over summer. I trundled to the library, and have duly got out a book about Charles II. Yay me.
So, that was history. Lunch was uneventful, and the afternon was far more entertaining than expected. Sat down in the English Lesson Of Doom, and the fire bell went off. Sue came in. "Well, I think it's really true. Get evacuating!"
Did so, but did take my bag. It seems to have been an accident, but we got firemen and everything. One of whom genuinely fell out of the fire engine. We clapped and cheered, and in his defence, he did a little bow. It was rather amusing though. And also took twenty minutes out of the lesson! When is that not a bonus?
Anyway. Now I am home. Only
I have nothing else to say now. As such, I will leave you to your own devices. Dead Ringers is on tonight. It's depressing to think that's the highlight of my day.
