Jul. 3rd, 2004 04:59 pmOh, I'm so tired that it's not funny. Surprisingly, I don't actually mind this fact.
So, yesterday was the so-called Full Moon Party in a white house by the sea.
loneraven's house, to be precise. It was a Resident Lunatic traditional meet-up, except Becca and Emily couldn't be there. To help make up numbers, we had
lilka, who I have never met before and was pleasently surpirsed with. Anyone with whom I can discuss Ricean vampires and Faith for BtVS in the same conversation is a Good Person.
Anywat, I turned up rather late, as Formby is a tricky drive for all concerned. Many pretty fields and whatnot, but far too many tractors. We also picked
balthasar up on the way, with much a hysterical "Oh my god! Your hair is GORGEOUS!" She also delivered a copy of Keane's album Hopes And Fears which I am listening to right now and going gooey. It's ever so pretty.
First activity, so to speak, of the night was a game designed for children aged 3+. It was Finding Nemo based, and being mature young adults, we descended on it like a pack of piranhas and then stood back in faint shock trying to work out the immensely complicated rules. We ended up discarding most of them, opting for a simpler version.
(I've worked this out in my head. Fingers crossed, we'll have something like 28 AS levels between us and we can't work out a Finding Nemo game! Dude, that's just embarassing.)
We also ate far too much chocolate. It was actually quite unholy the amount we got through.
Pizza was ordered. Enid and I did not collect it, instead opting to sit and natter busily throughout Big Brother. The others do not watch this horribly absorbing program, and were naturally somewhat confused at our hysterical cries of "Marco's left! Yay!"
Much pizza was eaten, and I can't believe to the levels of... well... geekiness we all descended. Someone should have taped our actually rather intelligent conversation about Harry Potter, and the worst veiled hints about upcoming Buffy ever uttered. There was also a chorus of "I've Got a Theory."
See? This is why it is fun to be a fangirl.
We also watched the downright delicious film of Velvet Goldmine, whilst HannahandEnid fell asleep next to me. Bless, they're nearly as slashy as Clemily...
Sleeping arrangements were somewhat tricky. HannahandEnid took over the bed, and shoved poor Iona under the double quilt with us. Iona and I are normally very good at sharing a bed, being remarkably civil sleeping partners. Alas, not tonight, as she managed to basically steal the quilt, eventually making me give up, pull my jumper and jeans on and sleep that way instead. Looking back, I should have just pulled back, but it was something like 5am and I really didn't care that much. I was Peeved about this in the morning, but it was the morning and I had not had a shower. I am Peeved about most things in the morning, although at least I didn't have the melodious sound of El Sister. I should be grateful, really.
It was a good night, actually. We discussed anything and everything - fandom (predictably), my adventures with alcohol (understandably, I was pretty much forbidden anything that night...) and universities cropped up rather often. We can be serious when we need to, I suppose. Enid also got hold of a Latin dictionary and announced, quite randomly "fellatio." I nearly broke down and died laughing, because it was just one of those things that struck me and made me giggle to death. We also found the Latin phrase of "Resident Lunatics" but failed to find "They are so doing it!"
I like being with the Resident Lunatics, whether it's a complete meet-up or not. We're all very different people - logically, we shouldn't gel at all - but we do, and we do so marvellously. It's nice to think that because we all met throuh various internetty and LJ things, we'll probably all keep contact. It's a warm, glowy feeling, and I hope that even when we're all old and technically responsible, we'll meet up and sleep in a big pile on the floor after watching slashy films and eating chocolate.
Getting home was something of an adventure. Mum was supposed to be giving me a lift home, and I figured that
purplerainbow could come in the card towards the train station. What Mum didn't warn me about was that Dad was there to learn the journey and the dog was there... actually, I don't know why the do was there. My dog is a five stone Labrador and he likes meeting new people. Poor Hannah looked a little intimidated, as you might.
Work was dull and somewhat comatose, as I struggled through until the caffiene kicked in just in time to sit and natter to Chris about anime for two hours.
So, that was my life over the last few days. I am hosting the Blue Moon party at the end of the month - El Parento are kindly vacating the house. It'll be early, mind, but there we are.
