Aug. 8th, 2004 07:41 pmOh, I'm exhausted.
Friday was a Good Day. Went to the opticians first, who poked me in the eyes repeatedly. I don't think I want contact lenses, but it doesn't appear as though I have a choice. I'm sure I will get used to them, even though I can't see as well with them. Perhaps it's just like getting used to glasses being at different angles? Except, y'know, you blink and your eyes water more?
*is hopeful*
After that... ordeal... I went to
osiris13's house, which was ever so much fun. We hung around in the sunshine for a fairly long time, and I got to see
shipperkitten again! Yay! We then went on a fannish rampage, and my, was it a good day! After my bleatings nags requests, I got The Fanged One. To be precise, Buffy Vs Dracula. Phwaor. I got a few people to agree that yes, Dracula was sexy. Mwahaha. We then watched Stargate: Atlantis. OH MY GOD I THINK I'M DEAD. It's fabulous! Okay, stuff needs improving (we agreed that one of the new characters was a Latino T'Pol) but I really, really enjoyed it. I'd say more, but it'd be spoilery. Then we had a scuffle with pizza. To be precise, it was two hours late.
We got free garlic bread and a parody of a song out of it.
"Why can't you let this go?
It isn't right, it isn't fair,
I swear there was no topping there..."
Heh.
Then we watched a loffley episode of Buffy and everyone got sentimental. Who doesn't love Willow/Tara? Awww. Bless.
Buffy featured a lot, especially when we got a leetle bit drunk (well, Clare and I did and Emily and Iona weren't far behind) and sang the songs from the musical. Loudly. With assigned parts each. I remember singing the Bunny Song and now I want to die, as I know that I can't actually sing.
Alas!
Didn't do much sleeping; Clare and I staggered to get some water and then realised that our legs were drunk. The heads soon followed, and we discovered it was safer to stay near the bowl/sink/water supply. Enid joined us a little later on and actually woke me up a little from my odd drunken confessions. Ah well.
Wasn't good the next morning, as I had to leave early and wandered around Liverpool at nineAM feeling thoroughly weird. I tried to get into Quiggins to sort out changing my tongue piercing, but it was closed. I did phone when I got home, but apparently he is on holiday. Harrumph.
Work was appalling. So hot! No fans! No air conditioning! Big metal building! Dead Colleen! I did fall asleep a few times, actually, which is worrying.
Came home. Zonked out a lot but I also read the book Lirael that Clare lent me. Squee! I then got a phone call from
playfullemming...
... I shouldn't drink two nights in a row. It's a Bad Idea. Still, I do these odd things. Jess and Christine toddled back to mine afterwards (quite late, too; we ended up lying in the park in the dark and stargazing. How terribly odd) and I passed out and slept solidly for six hours or so. It still wasn't enough, though; I like sleeping and it does seem to be a basic body requirement that I have a lot of sleep even if I catch it all up at the end of the week.
So for training today I was knackered pathetically all day. Although Enid was scarily good, so I think it makes up for it. She was just... good. I also want it to be known that Adam kicked my arse, but it was such a good move that I'm not too fussed. Even if he did call me tricksy. Hypocrite!
Ho hum. Now I am home, and I have managed to buggar up my glasses so they're wonky. I need to make an appointment for the opticians to collect my contact lenses (no money, and as such cannot pay for them until Thursday) and maybe they can make my glasses the right shape again. The word is skewiff, but no one else seems to use it properly. Maybe I'm spelling it wrong?
Anyhoo. Off to have food and read, I think.

Why is there no write-up for Clare's party? I quite like reading other people's accounts, and Emily's is all of two lines long. People! Get typing!
