Sweet, blessed LiveJournal! I feel like an addict that just got a fix. Ah, Teh Loffley Internet.
Right, Aberdeen.
On Monday, we set off fairly early and had very few problems driving up there - apart from a few hairy moments around Perth we didn't get lost. A very pretty road over the Grampians, too. There did seem to be a lot of abandoned cars. Dad pointed one out to me.
"When we came up here, your mother got really paranoid about them."
"Well, they're just walkers, aren't they?"
"Yeah, that's what I tried to tell your mother."
"And what did she say after that?"
"She reckons they were eaten by werewolves."
After remembering to breath between the giggles, we've come with a theory. Werewolves eat anyone on the moors during the three nights, and then they steal the cars and sell them as part of an international car theft ring made up of werewolves.
Works in our minds.
Got to Aberdeen, which was very scary, driving around a new city. Practically put the phone down on Liz as she phoned just as we were being scared by a roundabout. Oops.
First impressions: my room was like a prison cell. I was not impressed. Although I did sleep very well.
The second day was much better. I can't help but love the university - oh, the history behind it. I was tempted to find someone and hit them with sticks until they explained some bits of it to - "Okay, what does THAT sign mean? Translate from Latin, biznatch!" I didn't, but it was fun. And the history course... <3. I'm am easily pleased person, but wow it all looks fun and good.
Except for the killer seagulls. I swear they were about eight foot tall, with red glow in their eyes!
Anyway.
We went into the town again for the afternoon. I'm less impressed there. It has a Forbidden Planet, granted, but... well, it was grey and it was somewhat boring and flat. I don't know if I'd enjoy living there nine months out of twelve.
Eh. We went to the chippy and sat in Dad's room to watch the Olympics. He had a posh Parental Visitors room.
Came home via the coastal road, which was all very nice and pretty and also took hours and hours off the journey. So I ended up being home earlier. Harrumph.
And now today is Thursday. I had a scary driving lesson with Norman, who is scary and I probably should stop shouting back at him. I can't, apparently, steer. It's a problem, I will admit. But I'm only on my second lesson!
I have to buy a theory book tomorrow. Off out with the Resident Lunatics (minus two, alas) so at least I have an excuse to buy aforementioned book. And also bits and bobs for college. I'm going back on the eighth, which is a terribly scary thought. El Sister has had a message from her school; due to recent "torrential downpours" and "world shortage of steel due to recent Chinese demand meaning we are unable to purchase it at a reasonable price in this country" (?!) they can't complete the building work. My sister is going back to school a full week later than me. This seems unfair.
And now I am going to go and have a cup of tea and probably go to bed. I realise it is very early. I didn't sleep for as long as planned yesterday, and the Body is shouting at the Brain for promising it sleep and then cruelly snatching it away.
Sleepeh.
Actually, I have Something To Say. Last night, I saw the new Muse video, and did a happy dance for they are releasing Butterflies And Hurricanes which is the most amazing song EVA OMGKTHXBAI. And it is LIVE and it is very pretty.
Except... I recognise one of the live bits.
Because I was there.
In the crowd.
SO I'M IN THE VIDEO! Like, technically. One of those bobbing heads is mine, dude!
Mum is being weird and PMSy. I liked it better when it was just Dad and me; we made up weird things about werewolves and zombie seagulls and were able to watch women's pole vaulting and really get into it.
