Gosh. Lots and lots to write about, and yet no time. I have a shiny new keyboard! The last one, after seven years of abuse, tea being dropped into the keys, biscuits, orange juice, a nest of spiders living in it (oh, but I wish I was making that up) and various other sundry things in it, it's gone to that place the calculators go. However, it has rather buggared up my net access.

So, Friday was another good day. It was freezing cold, on the downside, and the bus ws late. As it so very often is. Except the connecting bus - without which my bus can't leave didn't turn up. Like, at all. Hee, late for college. Always a bonus, except for when the bus journey consists of Enid and Simon trying to freak me out. Bah. Although yay, because Enid and Simon! On the bus! With me! Enid and Simon! Alas that I had lessons ALL DAY and can't scive with a clear conscience, so I made do with hiding in the library with them at breaks and whatnot. Alas, no one turned up for training. I did, however, get grabbed by one guy in the library. "Hey, are you the re-enactment girl?" so we may have some luck yet.

I hope.

Had one horribly hairy moment, though. Apparently I needed to hand a signed-by-tutor paper copy of UCAS form into sutdent reception. OMGWTF?! I discovered this at 3.50pm. College finishes at 4.00pm. Oh, and did I mention that Friday was the final college deadline?

I literally panicked, quite spectacularly. Printed off a copy in scary record time, ran to Oliver saying thus:

"OliverOliverOliversignthis."

"I..."

"Pleasedon'targuethere'sbeenacockup."

"Well, okay." He signs. "Didn't think you'd be last minute..."

Too late. I was already running down the corridor. Got it in on time! YES! SCORE!

Went home humming happily, and out I went to the pub on a sort of last minute night out. It was supposed to be small, but sort of ballooned. On Friday night, the weather predicted it would be -4 Celsius. Of course, this made it entirely logical for me to wear a mini-skirt. *facepalm*

So, spent majority of the night in a New Pub - The Golden Lion. I think that's all of the Ormskirk town centre I have now visited. Worrying.

However, we did, in tradition, go and get pizza and eat it whilst sitting in the park around midnight. I admit - I drank. Surprisingly little, though. I had one double vodka in the space of everyone elses three, and I also had one and half cheap alcopops. Must have hit me somewhere, though, as I have discovered that the most fun thing IN THE WORLD in playing hide and seek in a childrens playpark at 1am with a -4 temperature and a mini-skirt. I am bruised from the rocking horse thing. Also, there is a fantastic borderline gay porn video knocking around. And I'm the one filming it, which is nice. Day/Dobbin=New OTP.

Woke up the next morning, threw Christine out due to the fact that I had to go to work. Bah. Work was long and boring, so I came home quite happily but freezing. Can someone explain how my work can be, at the same time, a presure cooker and a fridge? Keyboard was dead upon arrival at home, so nanced around most of the evening, saw how our true monarch is King Michael (lives in Aus) and generally rather enjoyed some mad Plantangenet theories.

Then I watched Moulin Rouge. God, I love that film. I forgot how much. Wept buckets at the end, but... gosh. It's so good. And has David Wenham. In drag. And it's extravagent, and reminds me why Nicole Kidman is really rather cool, and oh, it was god.

Slept for 13 hours, on and off. In my defence, I had the most appalling night with horrible stomach pains. When I fell back to sleep, at about 8am, I had such a weird dream. It involved me leading an army of my family to war, being dead but still around, for some reason, and Fingolfin being a middle-aged woman driving a Mercedes Benz.

Really that weird.

And now I am here. Have been watching Stargate all day - remembered why JAck remains my favourite character EVER - and I am playing with the new keyboard before I go out to see Bridget Jones with Clareyperson. Wheeee!

Bah. College tomorrow.

So, are you just completely over College? and ready to go to Uni? Or is there some other reason you hate to go to school?

Your college sounds like my highschool, except for the fact that you may be learning things...I was in all of the "Advanced Placement" classes except for the Maths, and it sounds like you are learning or at least being taught more than I was, Take how pointless you feel your college is and multiply it by two or three and that is how pointless I now think American Highschool is. NO wonder the German exchange student was not getting any school credit for going to an American school. Pathetic.

You know that I think you are extremely intellegent, I didn't mean anything other than that you seem to not like going to school very much. Did you like Bridget?

No offence taken - I don't hate college, either, as mentioned... it just irritates me at the moment. I think I'm ready for a new challenge.

Well, college is the bit between uni and high school. Finished high school - my god, how I despised high school - and now I'm in college preparing for uni which I'm going to a bit later than all the other people will be in Scotland. You specialise more - I'm only doing four subjects in the things I want to do and the recommended amount is three - and it's quite useful. I do like my lessons. Except English, which I'm only sticking with out of pride. You do get taught a lot - apparently our education system isn't that bad, despite the problems. I go to quite a bright college (sixth in the country, wheeee!) so I suppose I'm lucky. High school was abysmal, though - glad I left the second I could for pastures new, etc, etc. I don't hate college, really... it's just irking me at the moment. I'm in the last year of it and the new little 'uns just seem to the draining the life out of the place.

So, why am I applying to Uni right now? Well, the British system is completely screwed up. Basically, before you take the main exams, you have to apply to uni based on your estimated grades. You do this through a big long system called UCAS, which is Sauron incarnate, but they do sort out all your info and send it ot the six universities you put on your form. Still following me? Right. So, the universities accept you on the basis of your estimated grades and your personal statement and give you a conditional offer: "We'll let you in if you get an A and two Bs" type of thing. You get the grades, you get into that university. But the application needs to be off fairly early.

Basically.

American high school - from what I know if it via the flist and whatnot - does seem like a bit of a waste of time. Saying that, British high school - especially a Catholic high school - really isn;t much better. :-(

Irksome, got it! (I need to grow my vocabulary) And, many thanks for your description of the education system over there, I have always had some vague idea, but no actual explanation.

You are a sweetie.

I love Moulin Rouge, it's my favourite film of all time. I think I could probably quote most of it. I forgot it was on last night, I might have watched it (despite having it on DVD). Isn't Nicole Kidman gorgeous and wonderful and talented and generally all things lovable?

Oh, and did you see an advertisement for Chanel No. 5 during the film? It's the most expensive advert ever made, apparently, and it's got Nicole Kidman in it, and it's directed by Baz Luhrman (of Moulin Rouge and Romeo and Juliet) and is fantastic. I read somewhere that it would be premiered during Moulin Rouge (since when did adverts get premiers, anyway?) but I also saw it before Bridget Jones, and as you said you're going to see that today, hopefully you will have seen the advert. It is scarily similar to Moulin Rouge, but it's utterly fantastic. I hope you saw it and can squee with me!

She is. She so, totally, is. *hums Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend* The whole thing reminds me why life should be a musical.

The advert was... peculiar, though.
