Dec. 20th, 2004 02:30 pmYes, I'm spamming. Buggar off, it's for a good cause. The post came a few minutes agom and I did my usual frantic rifle-through-it-forUCAS-envelopes. There was a very small letter from Aberdeen. My heart rate soared, and I ripped it open. BAH. Junk mail from Aberdeen is MOCKING ME. Then I remembered that I hadn't been on UCAS for a while, so off I went to check it.
I GOT ME AN OFFER FROM... *drumroll*
Stirling. The offer? CD. That's it. Blimey, that's an insurance offer and a half, except for the slightly fact that I applied there for Scottish History (eh, why not) and I don't want to go there. At all.
Good grief, my fifth choice. I'm not going to complain. Well, I am, because my top three are IGNORING ME and it's irritating. Dad walked in about three seconds after I got my offer.
"I've got an offer!"
"Where from?"
"Stirling!"
"Oh. That's not a very nice place, really."
He wandered off. I felt deflated.
As such, a meme to pass the time.
1. What did you do in 2004 that you'd never done before?
Passed AS-Levels, applied to university, became half of a Real Relationship.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Yes - passed AS-Levels - and yes I'll make more.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes. I'd like to welcome into the world Jack Martin Pike Woods.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Nope.
5. What countries did you visit?
... Scotland?
6. What would you like to have in 2005 that you lacked in 2004?
A better payslip.
That pony that I've wanted for a solid 12 years now has yet to arrive.
A sword.
7. What date from 2004 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
19th August - Had a (mostly) sober Talk with Clare whilst still in the euphoria of "FOUR As DUDE!"
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
See above. Also getting behind the wheel of car and stopping gibbering.
9. What was your biggest failure?
I have failed in my quest for a better job. Apart from that, nothing springs to mind.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Other than training injuries? No.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
Buggar all.
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
John Kerry's concession speech. My father for being so wonderful in giving my lifts to places like Scotland.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Most Western governments. My sisters for being so plainly selfish ALL THE TIME.
14. Where did most of your money go?
I don't actually know. Quite possibly vodka, worryingly.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Oh, god. Well, UCAS, mostly. And Battlestar Galactica.
16. What song will always remind you of 2004?
Xander and Anya - I'll Never Tell
Keane - Bedshaped
The Beatles - Yellow Submarine
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Happier, without a doubt.
ii. thinner or fatter? I have lost weight but I look larger. ?!
iii. richer or poorer? Same. Same job, same rate.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Vodka. Reading. Writing.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Spamming livejournal. This, alas, will not change. I wish I'd spent less time being angry at things I can't change.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Avec la famille. My grandparents (who will henceforth be referred to as El Grandparento) are coming down for three days - Eve, Day and Boxing Day - and I shall be a good and dutiful granddaughter. The rest of the Christmas time SHOULD be spent working and revising, but honestly, I doubt it's going to happen.
22. Did you fall in love in 2004?
Yes. Abolutely and completely and its really rather wonderful, don't you think?
23. How many one-night stands?
If by 'one-night stand' you refer to drunken snogs... *thinks* four. If you mean actually out and out sleeping with someone for one night, no. I may be a drunken whore but I'm not that bad yet.
24. What was your favorite TV program?
Battlestar Galactica, I adore thee.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Actually, no. My hates are few and long-lasting. Perhaps English?
26. What was the best book you read?
I have a bad long-term memory for books, so I can't remember when I read stuff. Did I read Robert Rankin this year? If I did, him. If it was last year, then The Handmiad's Tale by Margeret Atwood.
27. What was your greatest musical (re)discovery?
Keane.
28. What did you want and get?
Trip the US! Next year technically but paid for this year.
29. What did you want and not get?
Pony. Better writing skills.
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Shaun of the Dead. Prisoner of Azkaban.
31. What did you do on your birthday?
The only meaningful birthday is the next one. I say that EVERY YEAR. As such...
I went to training, with Emily and Hannah. This was very much fun and I enjoyed myself.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
An offer from St Andrews, preferably unconditional. Still, there's tme to go.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2004?
I have aquired a new nickname at college: Collemo. Personally? Don't think I'm emo, what with the fact I have bought about three new items of clothing this year. Seriously, I shall describe my fashion collection as following:
The Oh God What's Been Washed No Wait Nothing Has Okay What's On The Floor Doesn't Smell Too Badly And Doesn't Have Suspicious Stains 2004 Collection.
34. What kept you sane?
The Colleen Show. Friends have kept me sane.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Oh, gods. Well, let's first admit that this was the year in which Colleen went NUTS and got a sudden thing for Roxula. So... probably Dracula. God, that's not good. I also continued my lust for Miranda Otto.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Iraq.
TOP-UP FEES.
Sudan.
Gay rights, particularly in the US.
37. Who did you miss?
Old friendses.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
I can't define it as one person.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2004:
Never eat yellow snow.
Seriously? Just... don't get too down, because you never know what good things are going to pop out at you.
40. What song lyric sums up your year?
There's Klingons on the starboard bow!
Somebody told me/that you had a boyfriend/who looked like a girlfriend/who I hadn't met yet... (that's descriptive)
