Well, this morning is Boxing Day and I'm suddenly feeling a mad urge to revise. I'm not sure where this has come from, really, but it's dawned on my how little time I actually have to work. I have English mocks ahoy, as well as a reading pile for history that it now as high as my knee. This would be funny if it were not true.

Yesterday, after my depressed post, I went off to try and become sane. Well, I watched Harry Potter And The Philosophers Stone. This would have been a pleasent enough diversion was it not for my grandparnets talking through it. "But... why is the glass gone? Why is he in the cupboard?" In the end, even I gave up and went to walk with my parents. It was snowing and pretty outside in the park, although I'm quite ashmed to admit that in chasing the dog I managed to fall over. Go me.

I bring two reviews.

Firstly, I'm ashamed to admit that it took me until nearly the last last page to get the joke about the Smoking Gnu. "Oh my god! It's the Smoking Gun!" I wish I was joking, but I'm not. I did, however, quite like the jabs about computers and to an extent the train service with the Grand Trunk. The LOTR jokes made me giggle out loud. "It's that bloody flaming eye again!" *giggles* It's not the best book ever, but I did enjoy it.

First confession: not actually finished watching it. I only got through the first disc before I knew I had to sleep or die. But ohohoh, the first disc. As always, the beacon scene gave me the tingles. I don't think that will ever change. Extra added Eowyn is always a bonus, as was the drinking game. This said, I don't like Gimli as comic relief. I never have done and I never will do. I liked the extended Paths of the Dead stuff, although the King of the Dea? SO Captain Barbrossa. I was expecting a "What say you?" "AYE!" This did not occur, alas. However, I preferred it when we just found out right in the midle of the film that Aragorn had been successful. Maybe that's just me. Looking at disc two, it has the Corsairs of Umbar as a scene, so no doubt it's for the narrative. I will watch Disc 2 aftetr dinner.

The snow remains. This is lovely. My posts are full of fragmented sentences. How depressing. BUT YAY ROTK:EE DISC 2 AFTER DINNER.

Did you catch all the entirely random Buffy references? Stanley the Vampire Slayer! Adora Bell Dearheart's nickname is Spike!

Good book, definitely. I wish he hadn't killed off Anghammarad.

I know. Plus all the subject titles: "In which..."

So, Pterry references LOTR, X-Files for Emily and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I have two theories. One you are, in fact, secretly Terry Pratchett (have we ever seen you in the same room? We have not!) OR he's following The Colleen Show in the manner of a fangirl. I mean, the next book is even called "Once More With Footnotes..." (and speaking of I have it on DVDyayayayay my sister is USEFUL at times)

Is that where you see the blossom on the tree? I liked that too, though it was slightly less fabulous when i had to explain it to my brother and why it was so important.
