Jan. 13th, 2005 09:12 pmI was going to leave you all wondering at the mysteries of ARTHUR and y'know, perhaps even under the somewhat sweet delusion that I am revising, but for the first time in too long, I am going to make a truly and utterly geeky, nerdy, fangirlish post. We all know that I seem to have developed 'The Phantom Of The Opera' as a fandom, but that might be a kneejerk reaction to exams. But this is a truly, geeky OMG SQUEE! post so... sorry, all.
Firstly, I have seen an advert for Peacekeeper Wars. Are we all aware about my feelings over Farscape? My journal was but new when I saw the final ending. That's how long ago it was. And I saw an advert for Peacekeeper Wars (on SKY! Boohiss! I loved it on the Beeb, no adverts!) and my stomach flipped, I actually said 'squee' out loud and sat in rapt anticipation at the advert. So many levels of squee. FARSCAPEFARSCAPEFARSCAPE. My first trippy fandom that never reached the dizzying heights of fanfiction, but I loved deeply anyway. I get a mini-series. I am so excited, and Sunday will be a Good Day.
To continue this, I finished watching an anime film called Spirited Away today. I am ordering that film and I am doing it soon. It's just... perfect. In every way. The story - as little as I can sum it up - is thus. Chihiro is travelling to a new home with her parents, and she's not happy. They stop in a strange place over a river, and as night falls, Chihiro realises she is a stranger world than she thought possible. She has to rescue her parents and work out how to get them all home...
That makes it sound much worse than it is.
Chihiro is a really, really believeable character and is not a stereotypical Disney type gal. There is a possibility that Haku is the coolest person in the world (really. Really and truly) and every character is weird, wonderful and never really explained. I can find no fault in the entire film (No-Face is scary as fuck, Yubaba isn't much better) and hell, it made me ship. Lookit! Haku-Chirhiro iconses! Bring on the sequel. Please. Now I am looking through the dross of ff.net to try and find me some fanfiction. EVERYOBNE IN THE WORLD SHOULD SEE THIS FILM. Normally, I don't get anime, but this one... I did. It's the best kids film I've ever seen and blows anything Pixar has made out of the water.
Oh, fandom, I adore thee. I've developed two and regained a third in the space of two weeks. I need help.
And also the Spirited Away DVD.
