Mmmm. Radio 1 has, in the space of one show, played the Kaiser Chiefs, The Used, The Killers and now The Futureheads. Hence the fact I am now warbling along when I know the lines, which means that it turns into "TAKE YOUR SHOES OFF, AND I'LL THROW THEM IN THE LAKE!" pretty much ad nauseum.
I don't care. It was fun. AND NOW THEY'RE PLAYING IDLEWILD! *hearts Radio 1*
So, happy Mother's Day to all the mums on my list. Today is Mother's Day, and by gum I've worked for it. Last night, Mum and Dad went out (read: down the road) to one of Dad's old drinking buddy's houses. This bloke may or may not be a godparent, as all of my godparents (I have two sets of them) are Dad's drinking friends. I have no idea who they are. Mum put her foot down for Megan, and Megan's godparents couple up as relatives. Makes life easier, methinks. So, with um out I had the TV to myself, and I ended up watching 'The Last Dragon' all evening. It was quite good, actually, and had it not been billed as "An intelligent fantasy" I would have thought it was real. Quite cunning, to be honest, except for when they start wittering on about fire. Er, no. It was pretty, and I liked it, and the inclusion of the Chinese dragon was quite cute, oddly enough. Then I flicked to BBC4 and started watching some completely odd Japanese film. I do not know the plot, but I saw the words "Takeshi Kitano" and started to watch. Firstly: Takeshi's Castle. Secondly: Battle Royale. I like Takeshi Kitano, dammit. He's cool. So, I start watching this film called Gahetto, which was about... a samarui? Possibly? The first thing I picked up on was "Oooh! Look! Pretty samarui! Heh, slashy." So, I settled down with a cup of tea, continued to not understand much of the film whilst jokingly slashing Pretty!Samarui with most of the male characters, especially when they were sitting and drinking tea together. And then they were slashy!
I choked on my tea and then watched the rest of the film with far more interest. Between pretty sword fights and political intrigue, it mainly seemed to be about the Pretty!Samarui sleeping around with other samaruis and possibly killing them. Or possibly it was his first lover killing them? I'm not sure. Seriously, I DO NOT KNOW the plot of this film, past the "Oooh! H is young and he is pretty and he was girly hair and he sleeps with men and HAS A SWORD! BY GOD IT'S A JAPANESE LEGOLAS!"
Or something like that.
So, yes, Mother's Day. I awoke, groaned at world, and got up at 9.30, on my lonesome, to feed my mother. I made beans on toast, which for me is quite impressive. Gave her my present (a big flowering plant thing from Homebase) and then I wandered downstairs and showered. Momentum task done, I spent the rest of today cooking Sunday lunch. It nearly killed me, but fortunately, no one is dead of food poisoning. This is a good start. And now I have done my history homework and I even have time to spare until Clare gets here. I'm impressed. Even if I do say so myself.
