if you work it out, tell me what you find
May. 11th, 2005 11:58 amWandering merrily down the corridor in a search for some breakfast (the canteen staff appear to have actually made toast today as opposed to waving a piece of bread hopefully near the grill for three seconds before slathering it in margerine) I was nabbed by Dave.
"Colleen!"
I panicked and assumed the lesson we didn't have had somehow been miraculously reinstated and internally waved goodbye to my near-perfect attendence for history. "Argh what?"
"I was just wondering if you handed any work in on Monday?"
I breathed. Then panicked again. "No. No, I didn't. I have an essay to hand in now though! Honestly!" I actually did an essay last night, too, and I wanted to spend my free period doing another one. No, I really honestly and truly did.
"Oh, okay then. You're not..." He made this weird gesture with his hands that I assumed meant panicking or stressed.
"Well, I have a lot on, but I'm not worried about it or anything." I paused. "Do I need to be?"
"No." He paused. "No, you should be okay."
I wanted to say I only need a D in the exam but instead I went "Oh. Okay. Well, I'll hand in the essays tomorrow."
I only record this conversation as I quite frankly don't see the point of doing the essay he gives us on a regular basis. You have to understand that I have four history sessions a week and we're given an essay to do for each and every single one. I have never, ever, given in a piece of history homework late, per se. It might be written the lesson before, but it's never late. Also, I need a D. I'm quite sure that I can probably get that without loads and loads of revision. I'm going to revise myt ass off for the exam, because I don't want to fuck it up - just in case. The essays I have given in so far have varied - one was brilliant, the other a resounding failure. So yes, I can see the point of doing the essays in general, but all five of them? I think NOT. I have done three and I need to do three as unfortunately I have to rewrite the bad one.
But still. Honestly.
I don't really think I got across my feelings there. Still, never mind.
(Oh, and in the free lesson? Didn't do the essay. Quelle surpise or however you spell it.)
