Slight warning: here there be spoilers. Duh.
I made that exact noise, actually.
1. Russell T Davis is a very different writer. He is a Classic Who writer - his episodes often feel like a lot of the older episodes. This episode reminded me a lot of Logopolis, actually. (For those not in the know, that's the one where Tom Baker kicks the bucket.) With references to the chameleon circuit and "If you went to Rome, it'd turn into the pillar..." SO WE REMEMBER THE MASTER, DO WE? GOOD! A lot of other other episodes - Unquiet Dead and Dalek being noticeable ones - are very fan based. We want to see emotional Daleks and zombies, dammit. This episode was most definitely an arc-builder.
2. Bad Wolf. I can't see the website as it fills me with NAKED FEAR and leaves me coweringand asking for my mummy. That was the most open reference and had me pointing at the telly going "EEE! EE!" Little bit post-modern, little bit clever, but quite amusing. If that turns out to be the end of the arc, though, we are hunting down Russell T Davis and setting his testicles on fire.
So you all know.
Personally, I think the Bad Wolf is Davros. Why? See my next point!
3. Jumping the gun a bit here, but next week is going to be... odd. The Long Game was my least favourite episode so far, so I'm a bit worried about jumping back to Satellite Five. Mum is very excited at seeing the Doctor in the Diary Room chair. I am a little bit dubious, as this could be cheesy. Alternatively, they could totally pull it off. I think they will. BUT WOW DALEKS. Which leads me neatly to my next point regarding the Bad Wolf. Firstly, we've established that Daleks are not Ye Deaded which means that the TImelords may also not be Ye Deaded. This makes me excited and hopeful that it's the Master, but I somehow doubt it is. However. Daleks. Davros. It's a link, at least. Or maybe something totally new? Who knows!
4. Mickey. I am in the minority and really like Mickey, and I stand by my original position that I want to take him home and feed him stew. He's so cute and he has been totally fucked around by Rose. Bless his little heart.
5. OT3. In fact, sod OT3, I love the flirty dynamics they have going on, even if their not all in each others pants. "Only if you buy me a drink." Dude, the Doctor is wonderfully open with this. It's great, it's empowering, I feel Liberated and also there may be boykissing. It's all good. Also, the little dance they did? So the Dance Of Backstory. Which, by the way, I have educational photos of.
6. Interesting idea, the plot. It was a good look at the actions of the individual, and I also felt rather sorry for Margeret Slitheen half-way in. She was redeemed. Great. The Doctor, however, is not. Interesting, really - very much like "You would make a good Dalek."
And now, to finish my ficathon entry.
