So, due to general family stupidness we've just worked out that my younger sister is coming back from the school trip tonight rather than tomorrow night. Whoops.

It's her birthday today, but seeing as I don't care I assumed she wouldn't be back until late Sunday night I just haven't bought her a present. Um. She's back tonight, did I mention that? I'm debating either buggaring off to Tescos now and using up valuable petrol, or just apologising and nipping out early tomorrow to Argos as was my original plan. Argh.

Families are so complicated. I can deal with the parents, I like my grandfather and stepnan but the rest I can't be arsed with. For example, my cousin Leigh (a boy - the spelling comes from a woman who signs herself Soo which should tell you all you need to know) has been assaulted and is as I type in a hospital bed with metal plates in his face so his cheekbones knit back together. No one bothered to tell us. Or, interestingly, our mutual grandfather. He found out because *deep breath* Aunty Soo accidentally met Great-Aunty Mal (grandads sister) shopping in Blackheath and told her in passing. Mal told Grandad, he told Mum. All hell broke loose. I like Leigh. He's a bit of a useless twat, but he was always my favourite cousin and nice to me when I was little. To be fair, he still treats me like the seven year old he knew, but I sort of don't mind. Bit the fact that no one told us he'd been assaulted? Not on. Come on, even Nan could have phoned, but no.

I've offered to phone up Soo and go mental. You see, she hates me because I am Not Normal, because I too much resemble my parents and not her side of the family and oh yeah, because I am She Who Is Going To That Posh University And Speaks A Bit Funny Already. Also, she's forgotten Megan's birthday and I'll put good money on her forgetting my birthday. I am actually going to phone then. It was me that had to text Nan about forgetting Mum's birthday. If I phone, I won't do any damage because, well, I'm already the black sheep of the family.

Argh. They're all so confusing. But then, LiveJournal is traditionally here for family woes. It's just... irritating, you know? Bah.

I'm still sleepy. I have nominations to make for Mauve And Dangerous (will do so tomorrow) and I have to finish off fic, but for now I'm going to finish my tea and curl up somewhere. No, I really am.

First, though, I'm going to talk about My Time With Colin Baker And Patrick Troughton. This morning, I watched 'The Two Doctors'. Bit crap that, innit? You know, to be blunt about the whole thing. I always suspected I'd like Patrick Troughton, and I did, although it seemd a bit forced, every so often. Colin Baker was irritating. I'm sorry. He was too manic and crazy and all around annoying. I think a lot of it is the writing. The episode was bad, to be blunt. The plot was silly (and this is from a Doctor Who story, remember) and the random Sontarans was just daft. I liked the fact I finally got to see who Jamie was but that was about it. I turned off half way through in disgust. And also because I had to go to work.

I want to see more Doctor Who. I liked One because I liked 'The Unearthly Child'. I think I'll like Two if I even get around to seeing a proper episode. The same with Three, although he may irritate me eventually. Four kicks arse, Five is cute, Six is going to have to go. I'll withold judgement of Seven and Eight because while I have technically seen an episode with both of them (the film) I was only about nine so I don't think it counts.

Fandom fandom fandom. Strangely, it keeps me sane at times.

hurts when no one tells you doesn't it? You probably know but my cousin almost died recently, she was hit by a car and I couldn't function for days. Didn't want to go home in case we found out she'd died. Mum didn't tell us everything and we had to find out through our Nan. I really hope hes ok. Rebecca needs a plate in her head, shes currently minus some of her brain.

Troughton is one of my favourites, he is a bit like Tom. You have to see a proper episode with him though, he is a bit of a characterture in the multi Doctor stories and a bit silly. The first Doctor is cool, he is funny too because Hartnell kept messing up the lines and stuff. Makes the early episodes more entertaining.

Yeah, go get yourself some Tomb of the Cybermen or (even better) The Mind Robber (cuz it's weird and surreal and fun.) Patrick Troughton is awesome, but the Two Doctors is awful, overrated, yecchy crappy crap.

and if you're going to watch a seventh doctor episode, may i recommend Paradise Towers or Rememberence of the Daleks?

and family is dumb. yet, they're ours. sorry. :(
