hathycolPossibly because I am insane, I managed to forget that I was at the dentist yesterday. Scale and polishes have resulted in pain at the moment. Ouch.
ANYWAY. Went to the pub yesterday. The most interesting excerpt is probably the following conversation:
"Hello Colleen!" said Day cheerfully. "I haven't seen you for a bit."
"Well, you know how it is. I've been busy," I said, trying to make it sound as though I was a Terribly Important Person.
"Well, yeah, me too." He took a sip of his pint. "So you've been at the pub most nights too, then?"
I burst out into giggles. It's so true.
I am going to Liz's tonight for a Mad Crazy Evening. Liz, for those who aren't In The Know, is a rather wonderful example of a human being. Not only is she a Big Ole Nerd, she also writes fantastic manporn, is as hard as nails by merits of doing Ju Jitsu nearly every day AND she has fantastic breasts.
... well, it's true.
Anyway, I haven't seen her for ages and she deserves a great night, so she will have one. My night's merits are slightly more doubtful, due to the terror that is braving the motorway in the dark *deep breaths* and more distressingly, my younger sister being caged up at home. She is not best pleased about this, but what she doesn't know is that I won't be back until about midnight. Oh well. Seriously, though, it will be nice seeing people again and stuff, in the same way that last night was unexpectedly fun - not only did I see Jess and Day (apparently their halls of residence at Liverpool has a pub on the second floor. I am jealous) but also had fairly random drinks with Ryan and Danny, who we vaguely knew through college and high school. Very strange.
AND I only got a little bit drunk so YAY ME. I woke up chirpily this morning, or at least as chirpily as one can when you roll in at 11.40pm. Earlier than the last few nights out, anyway.
Um, my posts are all rubbish at the moment. I don't think I can talk about Katrina properly, or at least do it justice. It's... scary, it really is and does raise some interesting questions. Why can't the richest country in the world look after its own relief efforts? Seriously, though, it's dreadful. Nearly as dreadful as seeing someone with a broad Yorkshire accent justifying bombing London.
I shouldn't watch the news while mopping. The act of mopping is nihilistic enough as it is. I mean, seriously, it is. You spend so long preparing mopping, and you get the water temeperature and levels right, and march off confidently with your little "WARNING: WET FLOOR" traffic cone. You mop the floor and move furniture and do it all right, and then some twat walks across the floor. Oh, they'll compliment your mopping, and they'll apologise before doing it, and they might even ask, but the fact is, they'll still walk over it. They might even wait until it's dry before they do it, but walk they will anyway. And the next day, you just have to mop it again. So depressing.
Right. I will focus on the good stuff. Megan is doing the dishwasher and have Shoebox Aloud playing again. I loffle it to death.
Also, I saw John Barrowman on Breakfast this morning. Hence the fact I was late for work this morning. John Barrowman really is just Captain Jack Harkness. THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE I SAY.
