Quick post to let you all know that I am safe, well, and living in a house. It is somewhat grotty on the outside, but a little palace indoors. I am on the uni computers but hopefully I will be hooked up to the internet by the end of the evening, presuming Joan co-operates.
So, there will be a big post soon. I want to write one now! So much has happened. In the shortest way possible, the journey was scary as hell. Moving in is terrifying. Unpacking takes ages. Cooking for yourself can be fun, it seems. I have five housemates. In order of when I met them:
Sarah - OMG TOTALLY THE SCOTTISH
balthaser. Seriously. Glasweigan, doing psychology, lives opposite the kitchen, drinks a lot, doing psychology. Also, Stargate peeps - is the younger sister of a Stargate fan called Elizabeth Fletcher. The name sounds familiar. Anyone know her? She's been to conventions, apparently.
Lisa - American! Californian, to be precise. Bit of a unknown quality as of yet - slightly sociable, doesn't drink, but doing history, which is good.
Katie - lives opposite me. Plays bass guiter, doing philosophy, drinks lots too, likes some nerdy stuff, it's all good.
T'Other One - Seriously. No idea. Not entirely sure of her name, which is really awful of me. She hides all the time. We have tried inviting her out, to our communal meals, on walks, to the shops, and nothing. We think she's called Salsomething. Erk. She cleans a lot, too.
Derya - My next door neighbour. Lovely German girl who drinks lots of vodka and is doing international relations.
So, we all share a house. It's really rather odd. One shower and one bathroom upstairs. Kitchen and Lisa, T'Other One and Sarah are all downstairs, whereas the rest of us reside upstairs. The hall and stairway are terrifying. So is our lounge - it's like a dentists waiting room. However, we have collectively developed kleptomania, and have decorated it. With, um, a trolley. I didn't do it. I woke up this morning, went for a shower and saw a trolley in there. Which is odd, given that the lounge is upstairs.
It's going to be a very strange year, I think.
I miss everyone a lot - what's going on? How are all you crazy people?

Date: 2005-09-19 04:47 pm (UTC)Richard and Judy seem to be running some "teach students how to cook" feature where they'll come to your new student house and teach you how to cook well on tight budget. So I dunno, you may want to watch out for that/enter yourself XD.
Can you understand the Scottish people? Can they understand you?
