Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] purplerainbow! May you have a happy and purple birthday.

Erm, yes. Written 600 and something words, which is good, although the essay is not, because... well, I think I'd feel better if I'd got my Charlemagne one back. This is nothing like my damned Charlemagne one, because I'm relying a lot more on my lecture notes instead of books. Feel very Hermione in my sudden reliance on reading. I do have a big huge bibliography, though, so that's something. I think.

Anyway. To stop me from having to work (I'm still warming up - it actually hurts to breathe outside at the moment, it's that cold!) I present (early on, I know)...

Christmas Wishlist.

Step One - Make a post (public, friends locked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fun ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.")

The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

- If you wish for real possible things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two -Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to.

The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call. There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

1. Paper. Lots and lots of lined paper. I'm shocked at how quickly I'm getting through it.

2. Socks. No, really. Ones that match.

3. Interesting music that I might not have heard of.

4. A new LJ layout that is Interesting And Shiny and no longer fucking GREEN.

5. A toaster. Ours is dead Liek Whoa.

6. Train tickets. Or possibly a rail card. Natwest has fucked up, methinks.

7. Something kitsch for Starbug. Seriously, my car is bland and has no personality. Anything from a mixtape to a nodding dog.

8. Food vouchers. (Tescos, Morrisons or Somerfield if you want to gift me.)

9. Big snuggly jumpers or jeans. (UK Size 12)

10. Interesting books that I might not have seen before and I might like. I will read pretty much anything.

Contact info is here. E-mail is hathor _ sgc (at) hotmail . com

I have no hope of any of that stuff, and anyone who might get me a gift are all poor students and heaven knows I can't afford presents this year, but if anyone decides they want to give me stuff (other than large cheques - I'll never say no to them) then that is a suggestions list.

And now I have to go and do crazy stuff like essays. And not freeze to death. SCOTLAND IS MENTAL LIEK WHOA.

Cheetham. Anything sent to 'Colleen' or interestingly 'Hathy_Col' turns up to me, though. *grins*

Whilst I have no idea of who you are, they are 28(ish) inches long.

No kidding.

30" anything does the trick, though.

Thank you for the good wishes! I had a lovely time. Am now in possession of Firefly DVDs (hell yeah) and a washing basket. Live is good.
