Jan. 5th, 2006 12:10 amThe evening is good.
I have done, like, three whole chapters of revision. Well, it's a start, and given me a good background on the unification of Spain and the emergence of the Hapsburgs and Valois France. Sound dull? Possibly it is, but not if you're studying the right period of history where it's basically constant bickering between the two combined with religious turmoil.
I have spoken to Simon for longer than ten minutes. The phone signal is awful where he is at the moment, resulting in a lot of frustration and shouting and bewailing, but tonight? We got something like an hour. This was amazing and I have a stupid smile on my face because it is so nice to be able to speak to him. Liz is most fab for putting me up in two days time, and hun? I will text you the times tomorrow, when I've been to Leuchars and paid for the tickets, okay?
I am happily finishing off a bottle of the rose wine I love so much. I will be sad when it's gone, because I can't afford any more, but for now, it's delicious. (Sarah drank about a third of the bottle yesterday, by the way - I'm not that much of an alcoholic.)
The Arcade Fire's Funeral is playing the background. I've played this album maybe five or six times, now, and it really struck home about the third time. It's a beautiful, beautiful record. I have the EP slightly illegally on my laptop, so there's something to listen to soon. For now, I'm happy with this record. Oh, lovely.
My tragus hurts quite a lot because the end of my cheekbone next to it actually feels slighty bruised, and I should not be drinking alcohol, and it fucks up the bloodstream and cartiledge piercings are things of pain and agony for me, judging by the last one. (That was my right upper rim and oh GOD. It hurt SO BADLY for WEEKS, but sorted itself out within a few days when I changed the jewellery. I still have that same earring in because I'm slightly afraid of what will happen if I change it.) Still. It looks very pretty and I like showing it off.
Also, Sarah and Derya were having noisy sex upstairs before. I wouldn't mind, but both Katie and I have to live upstairs, resulting in me going into her room which is at least opposite Derya's room rather than next to it, and turning her music up very loud. Argle. Still, they appear to have moved it downstairs to Sarah's room now. This is a good thing.
Oh, I love this song. Life is a sort of happier place right now.

Date: 2006-01-05 04:42 pm (UTC)St Andrew's Hall at Reading consists of a Grade II listed building, a new block and about 20 houses up the road. I was one of 19 in the furthest house from the main building... Meals were served in the old building. There were 19 a week - we had to fend for ourselves Friday and Thursday evenings.
I elected to have a double room because it was cheaper, and I thought it would be a good way to get to know someone...
