Firstly, let's talk about the good things of the last few days.

1. I went out on Friday night! To Ormskirk, and minus any kind of drinking due to taking the car, but I had a catch-up with Jo and Matt and a couple of other people. It was a really lovely night; we laughed a lot, bewailed the horrors of Ormskirk (Jo has come back to visit for a few days) and then all mutually marvelled at a group of girls in the corner, in the best possible way. We decided they were a post Riot Grrl band, called the Pungent Raspberries. It was one of those sorts of evening.

2. Alas, Richie and I returned to Southport around 11pm. But! It was because yesterday heralded Being A Grown-up. After three months (!!!) of marriage (!!!!!) we have finally knuckled down and managed to acquire a joint account and a joint savings account which feeds into a save to buy account (!!!!!!) so that in, er, five years or so we will be in a position to think maybe about the other 'm' word. Maybe. Either way, it's definitely a good thing, even if I will run out of exclamation marks soon.

3. I had a really nice curry on Saturday, too. And I cleaned the whole flat and it is a thing of beauty and awesome. The landlords are finally doing up the hallways and stuff to, so despite having to basically kick in my own door where the paint had sealed it, it finally doesn't look quite so dire out there.

...

Okay, so here are some slightly bad things. Not catastrophic bad, at all, just midly problematic.

1. OH MAN I AM SO BLIND IN MY LEFT EYE. You know, the kind where the optician has to first check you're not dying, and then have a discreet chat with you about thinner lenses. I am such a geek. This in itself is annoying, as I got a new pair of glasses eight months ago. They are fabulous. I love them. Glasses Direct have increased the price of them by £40. This is plus my new found need for thinner lenses which add a lot on to the amount.

2. The above is compounded by my MOT, which occurs on Thursday. The car still runs reasonably smoothly, if you ignore the fact that I am fairly sure my brakes and tyres are shot and there is a distressing rattling noise under the passenger seat when turning corners in third gear. It only occurs when the car doesn't have passengers, though, so hopefully it's an easy and cheap fix and they will have some of the second-hand tyres in stock. How my MOT goes rather dictates if I can have another pair of my lovely, stylish glasses or if I have to tramp through the £25 section and have a little cry. (Will get over it when get to see the telly in focus again, of course.)

3. Today in work I realised that my head was peeling at the same time that the zip on my trousers have broken. BAD TIMES. I am trying to tell myself that this occuring at the same time a button on my favourite pair of jeans popped off is COINCIDENCE and they were VERY OLD TROUSERS. I am going to try and fix my trousers, as I love them dearly and they're quite comfy. Still, I am BEREFT and surreptitiously poking my waistline.

4. I got to leave work early! To drop off a parcel! Yay! And then I got home! And I realised my phone! Was in the office! Necessitating a 45 minute round trip! Involving climbing over the fence! In which there are copious brambles! As I only have the access codes for the shutters! And do not have! The ability! To open the main gate!

... normally I would have left it there, but Richie is in Birmingham tonight and tomorrow night and it would have left me without an alarm clock which would have been problematic. So I ended up doing the weekly shop on the way back (cheapass weeks of food ahoy, let me tell you) so at least that's done, and I can watch the football tomorrow in my pajamas and drink wine, but now it's nearly 9pm and my plans to watch Game of Thrones until my eyes fell out have been severely curtailed. I'm only through one episode!
