Oh god it's cold in Cambridge. I am a Hard Northern Bird, I live in East fucking Fife for most of the year but I'm actually dying here. Simon is also doing the Hardcore Northerner thing but I was shivering THAT MUCH the heating went on.

The thing is, I live in a weird little microclimate becuase I'm in the... what's it called? East Neuk? Something like that? of East Fife, so it's... weird. Oddly warm sometimes because the sky is so clouded. Okay, the weather is beautiful here, presuming you like shining sunshine and brilliant blue skies, but it's not got above freezing since I got here. Hence the heating, I suppose. I insisted I've be fine with a warm drink and the quilt, but no. Bless.

(My media player seems to think I'm feeling depressed. The Dresden Dolls - Missed Me, Jack Off Jill - Angels Fuck, Devils Kiss and now My Chemical Romance - I'm Not Okay (I promise.)

Yeah, my mediaplayer is an emokid. I'm quite intellectual and trendy when it comes to stuff I buy and own (no, honestly, and also I liked the Arctic Monkeys BEFORE THEY WERE COOL) but stuff I download tends to be a bit... um... emokid. Which is, y'know, fine for most people but growing up with my sister gave me an aversion.)

What else? I have been intellectual recently. Firstly, I went to a CUCO concert last night, because I'm nice like that. Lied through my teeth about being a Cambridge student (surely I look too normal scruffy um, alternative to a Cambridge student?) and got a cheap ticket and sat quietly by myself in the audience. Note to self - drag others with me next time. They are actually very good and I am a good fiancee, I know this to be true. Seriously, though, it was fab. I didn't know the piece previously, and I spent half of it going "... what the fuck?" but half way through I discovered I liked it a lot because it feels like my head does most of the time. Berg's Chamber Concerto for anyone interested.

(Yay, Middle Eight Theme is on. "Bullets can't stop it!" I am going to be so gutted when that isn't included in the actual theme.)

Tonight I am off to some form of choir thing. I hasten to point out that I am not that much of a groupie (although there's an interesting thought: does my whole Thing with Simon mean that I am, in fact, a music groupie? I keep on getting very amused as I'm introduced to people. "This is so and so, he is in the NYO." *person waves vaguely* "Do you do maths?" "No, this is Colleen." "Oh. Hi!") but quite frankly he has to do the music stuff, I have nothing better to do and tonight's thingie is free. Also I get to nose around Emmanuel College and I like wandering around other colleges. They are pretty and fun.

(Snow Patrol - How To Be Dead. OH MY GOD MY MEDIA PLAYER WANTS ME TO SUFFER.)

Today I had a free meal. This is also a bonus as it means I do not need to eat until tomorrow.

Hmmph. Have to phone Katie tonight regarding the TV licence. It is in my room. Which is locked. Oh dear.

Right. I should go, I need to be away in about half an hour. In a church. And I look like rubbish. Do you genuflect in a C of E church? I mean, the whole thing is basically Catholic what the High Anglicanism and all (something to do with Victorians? No idea) but I DO NOT KNOW AND IT CONFUSES ME. I have no idea what to do in a modern church. I'm sorted for a modern Catholic service (sort of) but for everything else I'm stuck in the seventeenth century. That can't be right.

So, you have fifteen minutes to help this girl out - genuflection permitted or not? I can't help it. I worship Mary, I genuflect, I would go to a saints repository, I'm deeply superstitious over my religion and basically I'm a fucking born and bred Catholic because ten years of education as such does that to you. Argh. Confusion.

(Harry and the Potters. I am thoroughly ashamed but it's happy, at least.)

Using this icon simply because IT MAKES ME LAUGH. LIKE A DRAIN.

Gosh, this post was random.

surely I look too normal scruffy um, alternative to a Cambridge student?

If you look at all as though you'd be comfortable with the idea of posting a hamster to someone in a normal paper envelope, you'll fit right in! :P

Ah, but daaaaaaarling, I was at something that was attended purely by the music society members.

I have learnt my lesson regarding baggy jeans and piercings.

I have no idea even what genuflecting is. Sounds kinda nasty.

Yes, I am thoroughly too late but, um ... I expect you can genuflect if you want. We wouldn't normally (in fact I never knew that Catholics did ... differences between denominations interest me muchly, but I am sadly ignorant), but I doubt anyone would be offended if you did.

Also, am starting to think that the whole 'cold north' thing is an utter myth. I am generally warmer up here in Durham than I am at home (though that could be due to the heating), and as yet we have had no snow. I protest. I want proper snow, dammit! That's why I came up here! *g*

Cold north is apparently not a myth. Have ben told to 'just wait for January!'

Except it is January and not cold. Harrumph. Also no snow! IN SCOTLAND!

I did not genuflect because there were no pews. Christ, that threw me. I like the differences betwen demoninations too, but I'm afraid, as I said, I'm stuck in te seventeenth centry. The service was in the sixteenth century style from what I can tell, though, so that was fine. I was sorted! Except for trying not to twitch at 'Holy Ghost' but that's just a product of the way I was dragged up...

That'll teach me to complain about the weather ... it is now bloody freezing. Still no snow, but so so cold, and I didn't think it was so am now fifteen minutes walk away from my room with only a t-shirt and a hoodie. *shivers*

Evening service with 'Holy Ghost' is probably the 1662. [/geekiness] You got a weird look for 'Spirit'? That's kind of mean... I always get them wrong - at our church, morning is 'Spirit' and evening is 'Ghost', and it cafuddles me a lot while singing...

Ahem, killing time while spamming other people with comments probably not good ... I shall go to my lecture now...
