I am unbelieveably broody at the moment. No other side effects, which is pleasent, but oh god I have this unctrollable urge to burst into tears at baby shoes and crap like that.

No, seriously. I was watching The Simpsons last night (you know, Mr Burns, Bobo, Maggie) and Maggie made this noise of baby dejection and I nearly wept.

At The Simpsons ferchrissakes.

Katie laughed at me. "This lasts all month."

I don't even want kids in anything other than a vague sense in the future!

So. I am on a pill to make me not get pregnant, except apparently it makes me want a baby. Gosh, that's useful.

*facepalm*

I am making do with cleaning a lot and mothering my housemates. Lucky things. I am also very glad I'm no longher walking home at the time the local primary school gets out, because I did that on Thursday and got a pang of weird desire to have a small well-educated child. Bizarre.

Hmm ... that's interesting. Because, thinking about it, you're on a pill which makes your body think it's pregnant (I think). So in that case, it would be kind of useful if you wanted a baby. But, um, pants for you.

Yeah, my body basically thinks I'm pregnant. And is preparing for this BY MAKING ME WANT CHILDREN.

Except I don't. I just want something to love and care for. I am currently using [livejournal.com profile] spockette's hamster to make do with.

The other day I was talking to someone about going on the Pill. Having read this, and knowing that I have been pinned as an average of about 7.5 on the Maternal Scale as I am without popping small pills, doing so could have interesting effects on me...!

Just don't go past any schools, and stay well away from adverts for Pampers and Johnson's baby shampoo :p

The Pill, when taken properly, is the safest and most reliable type of contraception out there. I have spent six exciting months reading up about this kind of fun and the only contraception without side-effects is condoms (erk, bored now) and the coil. I don't really want metal shoved up my uterus if it's all the same to the world, so this made the most sense.

The maternal thing doesn't happen to everyone, I think. It happened to Katie, but Katie was more ANGRY AND RAGE-FILLED for a month.

The only road into university involves a primary school and I go past at break-time. I'm doomed.

Okay, bugger that. How regularly are you not wanting a baby, that you can have this happen to you?

...It kind of scares me.

Um, I don't want a baby quite a lot. I'd e a dreadful mother at this point in my life, for a start, as I ma first-year undergrad and the father would be the same but living 400 miles away. I am quite active in my Not Wanting Children Just Yet Thank You.

Hence the fact this scares me too!

Ah, a quite regular not wanting babies.

Myself, I find the not wanting babies happens far too periodically for me to put myself through such torture. Other times, there's not even the chance, really.

And that is scary, that doe-y eyed broody thing. Rather worrying, as the whole intent is the opposite.
