Mar. 30th, 2006 03:53 pmYesterday was a lovely day. Spring has sprung, and the little birdies were tweeting, the sun was shining, the sea was blue, all was well. I baked brownies and scrubbed the kitchen in glorious domesticity before settling down to Radio 1 playing Sigur Ros's Hoki Polloi (I think? I no speak the Icelandic) with a cup of tea in the sun of a south-facing window.
I then proceeded to walk all the way across the beaches of St Andrews with Simon. For reasons best known to myself, I've never been further than Castle Sands in terms of the beaches, mostly because West Sands is occupied by yahs and golfers, but it was a sunny day and it made sense to do so.
A few hours just sitting on the beach and mocking the people with their collars up playing ruggar (good grief) we came back. I like the fact the clocks have gone forward. There's all this sun, now! Late in the evening! It's marvellous! And the evening contained Firefly and me not cooking (although there is a washing-up pile downstairs, boo) and then my knee went thunk.
It does that sometimes. It's not particularly bad compared to a lot of people's knee problems (I'm thinking
kts2k here) but ouch. It must have been all the walking through the sand or something, because I couldn't move it and when I did the pain shot through my entire leg and back and we have no ibruprofen in the house.
So not amused AT ALL.
It has gone this morning, however, and this makes me happy on many many levels, other than the fact that it is slightly stiff and slightly sore, but I shall survive.
And now, back to domesticity! There is a vague plan involving apple crumble. I do so enjoy ignoring the copious amounts of work I have to do.
