This would have been written last night, but going to the pub and a lot of wine got in the way.

*shrugs* It was a bad exam, what can I say?

Anyway!

Me? I really liked it. Mostly because I watched it on REAL TELLY which is always a good thing.

The TARDIS is broken! Well, it isn't - and surely there should have been flailing about that? - but it was quite sad. I felt bad for the TARDIS. Surely they could power it off Rose's phone?

Also Mickey. I feel bad for Mickey. He is sweet, and lovely, and picks up on the sledgehammer quality of the Doctor and Rose. The scenes with 'Ricky' were also good, too - although evil!Noel Clarke just didn't quite cut it. I liked the idea that Ricky is still involved with weird conspiracies and finding out what's really going on. I loved him seeing his Gran, though - is she going to kick the bucket via that carpet? I will be thoroughly upset if she does.

I sort of howled at the TV. "YES YOU CAN GO TO ALTERNATE REALITIES AND UNIVERSES! E-SPACE! DON'T FORGET HER!" And they put in a tiny little mention, which I was very chuffed with. And how did they just fall out? Is that going to be rectified? Are we going to find out why it all went hideously wrong?

The scene with 'The Lion Sleeps Tonight' involved me and my housemate clinging onto each other. Is was absolutely macabre and frightened me senseless. That, viewers, is some proper nasty horror. It's not about clockwork monsters, or scary children, it's the horror of the human mind. And that is never a good thing.

President Rassilon of the UK! He was fab. I'd have voted for him.

What's going on with this world, anyway? It's seemingly more advanced, but at the same time, you've got a curfew at 10 and 'black-market whiskey'. Why isn't this being addressed? What is going on with this world? Why is it creepy?

I would talk more about David Tennant being in Smart Dress (with Converse on - oh, I died a little inside) but I think that Simon is already a little fed up at me rhapsodising happily down the phone about this. It's that or I lick the TV screen, to be quite frank.

Davros!Trigger. Well, sort of. Erm. I think a lot of people have summed it up themselves. He was a fab Who villain, though - lots of manic laughing, and an immortality wish, and best of all, the line "HOW WILL YOU STOP ME FROM BEYOND THE GRAVE?" It was just, well, Trigger.

So, the Cybermen! Ugh, the voices are creepy. My Dad, for the three people who I haven't told this because it's funny, is very afraid of Cybermen. Seriously. Poor man was a little traumatised by the 1960s treatment of them and hasn't really recovered since. He said, though, that the creepeist thing was always the voices. He's right. "DELETE! DELETE!" is my worst nightmare when I have an essay due. *grins* In all seriousness, though, the voices were creepy. Distortion of humanity again. Brrr.

Also, as my lovely housemate [livejournal.com profile] stupidore pointed out: "So, you mean the entire army of Cybermen are hobos?"

Rose! ... does not learn from her mistakes.

I am looking forward to next week a lot.

As regular readers might notice, I was at the pub last night. It made sense at the time, mostly because, well, I'd been steadily drinking to drown the sorrows of my exam.

I woke up with just a small headache this afternoon, and to try and rectify this fact, me and Katie went to Dundee and went SHOPPING. REALLY REALLY SHOPPING. Okay, I spent money that could have gone to the Plugging The Overdraft Hole, but considering I had to buy petrol and stuff, I'm past caring. It is nearly summer, and I will get a job, and ALL WILL BE WELL. *nods firmly*

Anyway. Shopping! I didn't spend a lot, as mentioned, and I still have Savings From Work which now really won't be touched until, um, Thursday but will go towards what I was saving for in the first place. We went to Primark. Dundee Primark is not very good, it has to be said, but it's always good fun getting little bits and bobs for yourself. Funnier, though, was trailing [livejournal.com profile] stupidore around Ann Summers, because that shop is far too amusing if you're in the right frame of mind, and you're the only two inthe shop, and slightly desperat slaes staff are trying to talk to you in front of the nurses outfit display.

"20% off for NHS employees as part of National Nurses Week!"

"OH MY GOD BOTH MY PARENTS ARE NURSES."

Well. That was more traumatic than anything else.

Anyway. We ate MacDonalds, and revelled in the joy of the fat one small shopping centre ws bigger and had more shops than all of St Andrews put together, and drove home with surprisingly little getting lost. It was a day out! A day out of St Andrews! And I bought stuff for myself that wasn't alcohol, or food, or rent, or a train ticket, for the first time since September!

It is amazing what will make me happy. I'm not especially girly, but I'm rhapsodising over shopping. Sheesh.

I have done no revision whatsoever, but, to be honest, whatever. I will work later on tonight, after I have made my exciting tea. First new potatoes of the season! Okay, I have about three tiny little ones, but they are extortionately expensive. And because I didn't really plan this out, I'm going to have cheese sauce with it. Erm. Small problem in that I sort of maybe bought a baby cabbage. This could be another entertaining experiment in student cooking.

To the kitchen! *dons superhero outfit*

heh - are you going all Wonder Woman on us in the kitchen?

I've just posted my thoughts on Rise, and predictably - I loved it. Don't you think the "timing" of the Doctor's visit was a bit of a coincidence????

If cheese sauce counts as Wonder Woman then YES I DID.

I know! I reckon the Doctor knows exactly what is going on, and is just playing Rose, though.
