Say, theoretically, I was to get a tattoo in the near future.

Around my ankle, for preference, in black because it's more classy. Or leading up my leg from my ankle bone.

What, should this theoretical situation occur, would be a half decent design idea? All suggestions welcome, although if one more person suggests Dalek I will hit them about the head.

EvilRomana had an Omniscate, which apparently appeared all by itself during her regeneration. I've seen that done on someone's calf (and it wasn't the first thing about him that caught my eye, not at all), and it works quite well.

to be honest, I think you should only 'theoretically' get a tattoo if you yourself liked the design because if it's something you've seen elsewhere etc then it's not really 'yours' & I think that should be something people think about before getting a tattoo. I think it's silly to just go & get something for the sake of it.

I'm not getting something for the sake of it; I'm honestly curious as to what other people think is a good idea. I have my own ideas, and I wouldn't mind seeing if other people's ideas correlate as to what looks generally good in a design. Does that make sense? It does in my head but I don't think it does outside of my head.

See, I actually rather like that idea, but I have no idea what text to use. I'm not an especially big fan of Shakespeare, so that rather obvious line is out of the window.

If you were to get a tattoo, the ankle would be a good place to get it. (c/o a friend. She has the eternity sign on her ankle).
Erm, in terms of whether you should do it or not, I would just say think about it hard because not easy to get rid of. But you know that already. (Duh).

if you've got a bit of time before getting it done, i siggest meeting with a tattooist to discuss what you want and see if they have any ideas of their own.
They tend to be quite good at knowing what fits best where you want it done and may be able to help you choose between possible designs.
also bme for ideas, if you find a design you like they may be able to incorporate elements of it and help you designa completely unique tattoo.
