Noises you never want to hear your dentist, doctor, mechanic or hairdresser to make:

"Ooooh! What have you done?"

My hairdresser then proceeded to cut a little bit of the black away and attempted to bleach it. Fortunately, my hair went a faintly alarming shade that at least looked natural. On Thursday (I have an emergency appointment! Gosh) she is going to try and get rid of most of it, but to prevent me having mad crazy brittle hair at the front, there's a plan involving highlights.

The 'cheap' fix of self-dye is now going to cost me about £40 to fix. Thank god I worked those extra few weeks and I have a job to go back to, because that means I am currently not dipping into Money Put Aside For The Wedding.

I am going to stop being girly now, and instead talk excitedly about telly. Today, I insisted that Chariots of Fire was on telly. It is a supremely boring film, and I did not watch very much, but I watched long enough to shriek excitedly at the telly "LOOK MUM! LOOK! THAT'S WEST SANDS! WEST SANDS! IT'S HAMILTON HALL! I DO DOCSOC THERE!" (In more proof of my evilness and running fandom, do I have to now resign from being Castellan?) "LOOK! IT'S THE QUAD! LOOK!"

"You're looking forward to going back. I can tell, no matter how much you try to hide it," Mum said somewhat sardonically, and I stopped pointing happily.

I also sat and watched all of Star Trek IV. I have said this before in this journal, but you know what? I like Star Trek. No, honest, I do. It's a sort of happy diversion. I sat for a good two hours watching In A Mirror, Darkly and that was ace too. I can dip in and out of it quite happily, and to be honest I think I've probably seen all of Voyager and given the way the summer's gone, most of Enterprise and TOS, as well as a big chunk of TNG. AND IT'S FAB. It's terrible, it's cheesy, and mostly I watch to see for the moments when Shatner's girdle slip, but Star Trek IV is the most awesome movie EVER. They travel IN TIME with the most dodgy premise ever ("Warp nine around the sun should do it!" Wuh?) and they steal WHALES and RUSSIANS STEAL NUCLEAR WESSELS (his pronunciation, not mine) and all in all it's brilliant. Everyone should watch it. The other films still frighten me intensely, because I remember watching them as a wee child and being afeared of KHAAAAAAAAAAN and his ear bug things (although I watched an Enterprise recently that made the whole thing make sense in a way that it didn't when I was six) and Iman and her shape-shifting and to be honest probably Kirk's gut, but right now, STAR TREK IS LOVE.

I think I should not be allowed to play with the SciFi channel when no one else is in.

Tomorrow: Blackpool! Not the David Tennant version thereof, because I'm going to the actual place, with Simon, who is a bit jealous of David Tennant (I encourage this, because I think it's very funny) so all in all I must not make jokes about All Singing All Dancing David Tennant. My urge for a seaside town will be appeased with a traditional day in Blackpool - the weather says it's going to be blustery and rainy, and given that nearly every time I've ever gone it's been terrible weather (once I got knocked over from the wind - SG5 anyone?) and the other, a wave actually knocked the glasses off my Mum and broke them. Happy times, and I can't help but wonder what thing'll happen this time.

As you may be able to tell by my tone of voice, I should go to bed. I am very tired and as such talking crap. No change there then.

Ahhh your indoctrination into Trek is well on its way! There is also an episode of TOS which makes Wrath of Khan easier to understand. Also, TOS and TNG are currently being repeated on BBC2 on saturdays.
I hope they get up to my favorite episode, The Inner Light.

I love the Russian wessels! I think that, along with Illya Kuryakin of course, may be why I'm going to learn Russian this year. Isn't that sad... *g*

*chuckle* I discovered the other day that my mother is a closet Star Trek fan. She's trying to get my dad into it, but to no avail.

And yay for Blackpool!
