Sep. 19th, 2006 12:22 pmThings are looking Up. Officially, may I point out.
For a start, I am now completely unpacked. I also went to the poster sale and got four of the most random posters ever. I picked up a print of the famous tsunami picture by a Japanese artist - I know nothing about it, but rhe artwork reminded me, strangely, of when I read The Hobbit as a child, so I bought that. I also have a classic LOTR poster - not of the films, but actually an artwork one that I've been craving after since I was 12, and finally, a black and white blow-up of the famous picture of the end of the war kiss in New York. Combined with two Doctor Who posters, an environmental poem (you know, the one that ends with "And only then will you find that money cannot be eaten"), Spongebob Squarepants, and a giant Serenity poster, plus a wall of postcards, it looks mightily weird. But finally, finally, this big, over-sized room looks like mine.
The rest of the house is still a bit dire, though. However, I finally cracked this morning, made a long list, and phoned up the Deputy Manager, expecting to have a long wangle and have to start quoting things like the Health and Safety Acts and my Food Hygiene certificate. Instead, we have been promised an army of joiners, cleaners coming around pretty much immediately and some plumbers to look at the radiators.
SCORE.
So, basically, things are on the up. I also went to the DocSoc meeting yesterday, and it was realy good fun - we mostly discussed things like "We can't show 'The Web Planet' because it's a man dressed up as a bee for Christ's sake!" and so on and so forth. I am apparently also being groomed forpower the Presidency, which is terrifying but kind of nice. I am too organised for my own good, apparently, but yay for that!
The walk is still dreadful - thirty minutes at the least ARGH - and I can't shower because I'm waiting for a joiner to come and make the bathroom nice - but other than that, things definitely on the Up.
