Reasons I hate Fife Park #30830:

So, last night, there I was, quietly reading before going to bed at a sensible time so that I could be awake and faintly chipper for My Day With The Toilets tonight. I switched the light off and began to fall asleep, as I've adjusted to the assorted sounds of people moving around, plumbing as people use the bathroom for teeth and stuff before they sleep. You know. Stuff like that.

Then I become aware that the noise from the pipes is sort of... rhythmic. To a pattern. And every three minutes or so it changes to another noise.

"Wait!" thinks I. "That is no piping! Someone is playing drum and bass!" I glance at the time. "O! for it is 12.30am!"

So, I get up and put my head against the wall I share with Corrine. Silence. Katie is out for the time, and upstairs is equally dead and silent.

Dressed in my pajamas, I pull on my pajamas and stomp next door and ring the doorbell, bleary and mole-eyed. "Please turn the music down, as I have to get up to go to work in less than six hours." The neighbours stared at me, looking a little stoned. "And if you don't turn it the fuck down," I added, "I'm getting the fucking warden."

They turned it down. I stomped back in the warm glow of knowledge that I had made enemies of the neighbours within three weeks. Score!

Just about made it to work this morning, and with my new shiny student loan (GOD BLESS THE INCREASE IN THE LOAN) I bought myself some cheap trainers from New Look - well, knock off Converse, I feel a bit of a sell-out - some Maryland cookies because they were on offer and wandered back to the Union to find The Big Boss.

I have now completely negotiated my Friday's off. I feel a bit guilty because of this as I essentially lied for it. "I have ALL my lectures and ALL BUT ONE of my tutorials and I WILL GO MAD AND KILL EVERYONE IN MY FIRST LECTURE essentially, is that a problem?" However, starting from next week, I'm on less money, and probably buggared myself to get any more time off (note to self: go and say that am not in for Reading Week but should tell Roy that instead so that can avoid all tricky time off) but the point is that I can buggar off to Cambridge if the mood should take me, or more importantly if my bank balance should.

Anyway. Hopefully my sleeping will be okay tonight, as I have to go out to a rehersal for Wyrd Sisters tonight, wander home, shovel some food down my mouth, and head back out for DocSoc, where I will probably be beaten to death for Fucking Up The E-Mail System. Dude, I am sorry, but, you know, there we have it. I signed up for DocSoc. NOT one of the biggest societies in the Union. Plus I have two jobs and a degree to worry about, so, you know, the fact I did it atall should be impressive on those merits alone.

Anyway. I am still very tired, so I should go and be useful and write up the minutes from the last meeting so I look cool, calm and collected at the meeting tonight.

rarrh!
i asked somebody about de-caf tea and they spake thusly:
"Not one from Pollards, alternatively any other, really. The Co-Op one is cheap and fine, or if she's feeling rich Clipper do a shiny dolphin hugging yogurt knitting version, but it's quite expensive for not appreciable difference in taste (unless you want to make a 'exploitation of tea pickers leaves a bad taste in my mouth' comment.)"

also *cuddles*. the room right above mine plays music every night from 12-12.30 so far. it usually goes off right at the point where i'm getting annoyed, and i've been leaving it on the grounds that well, it was freshers week, and we're still new really, and if it's still happening by the end of this week i will unfortunately have to kill someone, but FIRST i shall kill the people who have not yet fixed the doors which have made a pinging noise since FRIDAY.
xx

Ooh, damn people who have no consideration for others' sleep! *raves* I feel your pain; for the first few weeks of last term I had people singing yelling outside my window every night. Good for you on being assertive and telling them off.
