Still in London, still alive! The work Christmas party was actually quite good, and this week has gone reasonably well, too. It was Richie's birthday on Tuesday, so on Friday went to see Cabaret which was very good indeed. It had Will Young in it, who was pretty awesome as stunt casting goes. The weather was a little warmer, too; it's been frozen all week, but on Friday it rained and when the rain eased off it's left some surprisingly warmer weather, which is a delightful change and one I am revelling in. We walked back to the station along the bank of the Thames, occasionally avoiding drunken Christmas party revellers.

In short: still enjoying my job, I'm slowly learning what everyone's name is, and it's nearly Christmas and London is nice.

In less good news my grandmother is quite ill. After we moved in, I got a text from my Mum informing me that she'd had a stroke, and it seemed to be a fairly bad one; she's lost a lot of the feeling in her right side, although she's still mobile. On Thursday night Mum phoned to say she'd had another stroke, on the other side. I'm not sure how she's getting on at the moment; I'm trying to leave it alone, because it's all gone a bit odd and the chain of worry is being stretched out. See, obviously Grandad is frantic, so Mum is frantic with worry about him and the stress he'd under. This means that she is stressing out at me (the chain works like this because Mum's sister is totally useless, and Megan is, well, self-involved) which is turn makes mego argh and wibble a bit at Richie.

The plan is - between me and Mum - to let Grandad phone if he needs anything, because Mum is hassling him to think about putting her in a nursing home if she's lost feeling on both sides and I know that Mum will push it all too far and just argh.

So that's that. We're going to my parent's place for Christmas because I don't get the whole stretch of Christmas off, and we can drive to Liverpool whereas Aberdeen is sort of impossible to get to on Christmas Eve. So some of it may be sorted out then? Who knows.

I have been watching TV and stuff! We have Tivo now, so I've been watching The Young Doctor's Notebook which made me look dead intellectual at lunch with some suppliers on Friday. (Yeah, I get taken out on free corporate lunches now. I have no idea what to make of this either, but I like a free lunch and working where I work means there are a lot of places to eat. Journalists, bankers and lawyers like to eat well, it seems. ANYWAY.) It's really rather good, excluding the fact we are meant to be believe that Daniel Radcliffe is going to grow by a foot in the next few years. Very, very funny, too. Watch it if you can!

Now I am off to get some lunch and then I'm going to go and watch The Hobbit, which I have been resolutely avoiding fandom reviews of because I don't want to be spoiled about how good/bad/etc it is. I am deeply excited about this, because despite the lack of Orlando Bloom I get Richard Armitage. THAT'S A HELL OF A DAY.
