... where are we going?
Jan. 23rd, 2007 03:29 pmAh. Today is a good day. I have my pajamas on and I have ventured out of bed only for food. Well, and to go to work.
I should start at the beginning. Today I woke up, as I unfortunately have to do, at 6.30am and sauntered off to work and spent two boring hours cleaning up after students, who are filthy little buggars at the best of time. Then I had to go and see my advisor, who was very nice to me and told me that I was 'a historian at heart' and that I should stick with MO2006, but if I hated it after a few lectures I should swap out. Aw, bless. I have also swapped into a course that looks quite hard but might be handy for honours - a Divinity one about the Reformation. I only need a five. That is my logic.
I then came back home, swapped into my pajamas and curled up in bed. I didn't even sleep for very long, instead opting to just lie there and enjoy the warmth. Hunger was the only thing to actually make me move.
One grilled cheese sandwich (mmm, heart attack city) later, I have now watched The Fellowship of the Ring and when I have finished this post, I will watch The Two Towers. I've been quietly re-reading a chaoter or so of the book every night, and I told myself that when I finished my exams, watching the films again would be my treat. It is a treat. I forgot how astonishingly amazing these films are.
I know that soon I'm going to start complaining that I'm bored, but I can't believe how much of a whale of a time I'm having just doing... nothing. And then I remember that it's been a while since I could do that. My weekends, until recently, involved going to work once or twice, as well as morning shifts all week. Plus, of course, there was the fact that due to being at paid work so often, I was consistently trying to keep up with my workload for uni. I think it's the feeling of having no pressure to do stuff, combined with the knowledge that for two hours a day, I do still have to clean, but then the rest of the day is mine. That's nice.
Also, next week we have planned an expedition to Edinburgh Zoo. We will take a PICNIC. And see LIONS and TIGERS and BEARS.
And now, to more CGI and Elves and Hobbit and swords! Hurrah! The Two Towers has the bit where Legolas and Gimli and Aragorn (clearly the best characters as I have thought so since I was 12) run around for twenty minutes. And Eowyn. Mmmm. Miranda Otto. Yum.
I love Ski Week. (trans: St Andrews Pretentious for 'Mid-Semester Break.' Other people go skiing in the Alps. I stay at home, in my pajamas, and eat grilled cheese sandwiches whilst watching fantasy films. I know I'm happier.)
